Some thoughts:
Did his wife and her family really know about this before they began courting?? I'll assume it was a PR stunt on their behalf. How does one even broach the subject and continue to let their daughter court, marry, and have children with a child molester?? If they really did tell the in-laws I'd guess the conversation went more like this... "Hi, this is Josh. He's a good kid. He went off the righteous path a few years ago but now he's back on track and has found Jesus! So, who's ready for a wedding?" and left it at that.
The parents' idea of "counseling" was sending him to a religious fanatic contractor to learn how to dry wall!!! The Duggars believe rehabilitation for molestation is a hard day's work of manual labor! Probably something about idle hands being the devil's playground... He needed to be removed from the home and given INTENSIVE PSYCHIATRIC THERAPY by a team of medical professionals and did not receive it... Instead he received working knowledge of how to use a fekking power saw. Then, AFTER 4 MONTHS OF DRYWALLING HE WAS LET BACK IN THE HOME WHERE THE VICTIMS STILL LIVED. Let's chew on that thought for a moment.
A 15 year old absolutely knows that inappropriately touching HIS YOUNGER SISTERS (ONE OF THEM BEING 4 YEARS OLD FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!) both awake and while they were UNCONSCIOUS is WRONGGGGG!!! No grey area here. Especially with the anti-sex, "kissing until marriage is evil" indoctrination he received all his life. He did this in the middle of the night when they were sleeping, he did this when no one else was around.... because he knew it was wrong!!! They were unconscious when he did it. That's the equivalent of a male drugging a female and violating her. This is completely inexcusable behavior. People are saying "well, he was just a kid and he made a mistake"... being 15 and getting caught by your parents having sex in the tool shed with your 15 year old girlfriend.. that's a mistake. Getting caught at 15 with crack in his lunchbox on his way to a teenage orgy... that's a mistake. Molesting unconscious 4 year olds is a mental disease... not a mistake! He should in no way, shape, or form be aroused by a 4 year old!!!
Did he "resign"?? or is it more likely he was canned?? It's hard for his organization to continue to push the anti-gay agenda with a reality tv child molester as your poster boy.
He probably got FIRED and they are saying he resigned. Unless he resigned awhile ago when they bought the house in AK. Probably as they knew this was all coming out.

She said they knew 2 years before they got married.
They are ALL sick that they think his "counseling" cured and saved him and he is fine now. BULL.

There is documentation that it occurred, so he really couldn't deny it. And unlike Bill Cosby or Stephen Collins, he has no worry that the victims would come after him for punitive damages.
Exactly, he HAD to. Don't look at him like he is some hero and good guy for doing so.

I guess I'm skeptical of how anyone can be okay with it no matter how indoctrinated they are to their fundamentalist faith. How could they in good-conscious give their daughter to him after that kind of reveal? It's not even remotely funny, but I'm just thinking of how that conversation would even go at their first family courtship meeting or whatever they call it. In the mom's low-talker voice: "Well, our son Josh had some transgressions a few years back. Yeah, he felt up the sleeping 4 year old... but he said he's sorry and we sent him to hammer some nails in a wall so he'd stop hammering his sisters. Not to worry though, he's doing great now! He can build houses and doesn't even think about 4 year olds anymore. He found Jesus! He's ready to take on a family of his own. So, when do you think these two lovebirds can get married?" and the wife's parents just saying "Ok! He sounds like a prize! Where do we sign up?".... It's just so sick. Did they not think their future grandchildren would be in danger? I guess if they thought he was "cured" and repented they believed he was ok. I still don't know about all that... I think if they did talk about it, the Duggars glossed over some major facts in their cleaned up version of the story. But, then again a few people in their church knew, so it's reasonable to think the wife's family would have found out anyway from a third party?? Who knows.
My guess is that women in their culture are good for one thing and one thing only - procreation. They don't care what else happens to them.
No one in their right mind would ever let their young daughters be alone with him after learning this information. Ever.
They're vile.

I am so disgusted by the comments from people supporting this family on the TLC website. I just can't understand how people can excuse this and say "oh it happened twelve years ago; he got the help he needed; God will save him" blah blah blah.

Ok I need help with this. I don't know anything about the psychology behind pedophilia, and I was hoping to get more info if anyone knows or is an expert.
If someone is a pedophile, does that mean that they were sexually abused themselves?
Are teens who do this guaranteed to become adult pedophiles?
Can this be "cured"?
I'm just curious if this type of "touching" considered pedophilia before the age of sexual maturity.
Everywhere I look, I'm reading people's comments clamoring to have him thrown in jail. While I don't necessarily disagree that this is a serious crime, and if God forbid it ever happened to my children that I would probably want blood, AND that he probably received some bu!L$hit prayer treatment
He is still their son. What if our sons God forbid did this? Would we rush out to publicly shame them, or would we try to help them as best we knew how. I don't think I can finally come to a valid conclusion about this whole thing until I know more about the topic. It's just been bothering me all day.
I'm furious at the parents for thinking that the only way to prevent this from happening was to send him to another quiverful dude who gave him a stern talking-to. The other thing is blatant misogyny. There is an obvious and overt double-standard in their beliefs that makes me dislike them.
The only ones I truly feel badly for are the abused girls who didn't receive the protection they deserved and for his wife and children. They must be mortified and afraid...

Some pedophiles were molested and abused as children. Some were not.
Are teens who do this guaranteed to become adult pedophiles - nothing in life is guaranteed. However I would guess that seeing this is NOT normal behavior something is off.
Can a pedophile be cured? You'll get a lot of different opinions. Personally I think a true pedophile cannot be cured. I guess some people think they can be through.
A 15yo who touches a 4yo vagina and chest as well as many other little girls, more ban once over a year is most certainly child molestation as well as incest. The molester in question was a 15yo boy. An average 15yo is a sophomore in high school. A 4yo generally hasn't entered kindergarten.
You ask what would we do? Well if this was me I would immediately protect my daughters and send my son to intensive therapy. Simultaneously I would have my daughters in therapy as well as family therapy together. My son would NEVER be allowed to be alone with his sisters again. Not sure what kind of steps I would put in place to implement this. The girls, the victims, would be my top priority though.

I am disgusted by the parents. They never did the right thing for the daughters who he molested, they just wanted to protect Josh. I can't believe that there is a statute of limitations of 3 years when minors are the victims!

I think I'm confused about what "touching" means. Did he peer under their shirts while they were sleeping or did he really manipulate them? If he was touching them for sexual pleasure than he is innately a sexual deviant. That is not just pubescent curiousity. That cannot be fixed. His sexual attraction to little girls regardless of relation won't end. The question is how long he can he repress it. 15 is absolutely beyond shadow of any doubt old enough to know those actions are wrong.
He touched their breasts and vagina. It is clearly in the documents from the victims. 5 of them and one 4 years old at that time.

You just summed up everything that I've been thinking. This whole story has really upset me. I'm devastated for the victims that they are now on public display with thousands of people talking about them and what happened.

I'm struck by the line that Jim Bob and Michelle gave, "Josh's decisions almost ruined his life." Where is the observation that Josh's decisions may very well have ruined 5 womens' lives?
This family has been given a huge platform thanks to this show and they have spread fear and hate for the LGBT community. If there had been a 15 year old boy who was the son of a gay couple, and he molested 5 kids, the Duggars would be saying that this was proof that gays shouldn't be allowed to have families.
They should cancel that show - I think it's the only hope those daughters have. Without the money from that show I hope the girls start questioning the "don't do anything but get married and have 19 kids" plan.

And there is NO way TLC did not know this as I just read a letter from someone from 2007 and supposedly Oprah went to the police in 2006 about this.
They had everyone believing they lived this wonderful, christian life. TLC gave them $200,000 to build their house. They only paid for the kitchen. The grandmother went around begging for free things. They could NEVER afford 19 kids like they claim they have without help. They are a bunch of frauds and reality TV is what helps everyone out in life now.

I have no clue but I would hope so. Joy, who is still 17 can do something but she is trying to get rid of the report like it never happened. I am SURE that is all her parents doing that.
All of this should be investigated and there HAS to be more to this as the girls all share beds so it seems they are trying to protect one another. It is really sad and scary. There is more that has gone in that house that we do not know about.

Im disgusted to say im related to people like this saying this in repsinse to my disgust about him... It is disgusting, dispicable and inexcusable but not unforgivable. Forgiveness is a choice. If u can rely on Gods supernatural power to help heal and restore then a happy life is possible. What u suggest is to be bitter, angry and hardened. Nope i choose forgiveness.
Sorry to me he is sick. Touching a child sexualy is a sickness that you can not fix!
