Hi girls. I am thinking of starting acupuncture treatments but it is not covered under my insurance. I am concerned about the cost though. Between all the co-pays and meds I am financially strapped but I know acupuncture can def help. Can anyone recommend a good acupuncturist who won't break the bank? Thanks. Nassau county preferred.

Re: Acupuncture

try NYC of Traditional Chinese Medicine. They are in Mineola and have clinics where the students do it under the supervision of a licensed acupuncturist.

Its $40 for the first session and $30 after that and the 7th one is free.

The do a full consult. They also have a clinic in the city and out at Farmingdale College.

I go tot he clinic in the city and also go there for Herbals therapy too.

I was impressed with the process. You have to be ok with students working on you but the licensed acupuncturist was always right there and wouldn't let them do anything wrong. I have insurance coverage also but it was cheaper to go this route and I'm bleeding money right now with all the Dr appts I figured I needed to save somewhere.

Re: Acupuncture

I was told about the above place in Mineola and heard great things. I preferred not to be treated by students so I went to Andy. He made it affordable for me as I had no insurance also. The extra $10-$15 was worth it to me to be treated by someone who specializes in male and female IF points. I bruise terribly so it made more sense for me.

everyone one here will say Andy, but you have to go where you are comfortable and can afford, which is what I did and was very happy.
I started off with someone private who was very good and had to switch bc of $$

I called Andy's wife several times and she never called back, he was too far for me to drive.

I was given the name of someone in Huntington who specializes in IF Acup. If you want the name let me know

I agree. I am very happy with going to the school. They do know their stuff and never feel like I'm getting inferior care.....and it's cheaper than my insurance so for me it's a double win.

I used Any Kaplan in RVC, he was fantastic. My sessions were not covered under my insurance and I paid $60 per session. I think I went 2 times a week while cycling and maybe 2 more times after my BFP.
