it came to my attention in another post that my daycare on the NYS site is listed as having their status pending denial Chat Icon Chat Icon
granted I checked the site and from what I can tell I know the result of it is the horrible management that has been done by the owners.

I have been there for almost 5 years (I just realized it actually has been that long) never have a I felt my DC have been in any danger and not being cared for well. I love 99% of the teachers and know they take care of my children well. I still feel my DC are fine there. I have been playing with the idea of pulling them out for some time due to not liking the owners and how hectic things have been going there. In the past few months the prices have gone up twice (one I lost a discount I was getting the second everyone got a tuition hike). I am paying a lot of money to send them their.

the thing that holds me back is that my DD she is in pre-k now and have made tons of friends there and its the last year she will see them everyday. I feel bad pulling her now for her to have to start another new school with no one she knows and than to do it again for K. she will truly be devastated. I don't want to make her go through the change twice so that's why I am keeping here there.

am I crazy for doing so??!! again I wouldn't even question pulling them out if I felt that my kids were not being taken care of well but they are 100% are being cared for well. Also DD does great there she has learned a ton she knew more things last year alone than some people kids I know who went to K this year so again the teachers are doing an awesome job.

Also a new partner has come into the picture now and I see already tons of changes for the better at the place!

WWYD pull them or keep them at least till DD graduates Pre-k?

I was in a similar situation (there weren't violations but, management was horrible and morale was low).

I left my children there since DS1 was in pre-k. I knew he was well cared for adn was happy there. They fired the director, got a new director and things turned around for the better - so glad I stayed.

ETA - So i would stay, at least for this year and see what happens - and let your DD finish prek.

I would not keep my child in a center that is having their license pulled.

If you've been there for 5 years, and never had a problem, and this is presumably your last year there, I'd leave your child. If it's truly a reputable DC, I'm sure they're working to fix any violation issues.

I would, however, talk to the director to make sure whatever it is, is being addressed.

I'm not sure I'd pull my DC if they have been there so long, are happy, and is in Pre-K. I feel the same way about my daycare. I do not like the management, and have a feeling that is why they do not have the best reputation recently. But they do take good care of my DS and he seems happy there. I haven't had an experience to beliee otherwise. I am planning on switching him next year to more of a pre-school setting.

Does it say why they are pending? Is it violations that are serious?

If my child was happy, well adjusted and neve had any issues I would not pull them for the last year. I would finish it out and let her be.

Hi, not sure if you saw my update on the other thread about KBTB. When I toured it earlier this week, I spoke to the director directly about the violations on the website. She was pretty open about it and explained that the violations have been corrected but they're waiting for the state to review it. Also, the new business partner that came in was part of the delay. While I have decided not to put my kids there as new, if I was there for years and was happy thusfar, I think I would keep them there. It sounds like they're trying to turn things around. Your daughter is almost done there anyway and at this point, it seems like they're only getting better, not worse.

thanks everyone I am going to speak to the director she is pretty open with me and really like her.

most of the violations IMO are not that serious from what i can see. a lot of it is bad paperwork. like not having the proper forms filled out to give medication that a parent brings (which explains why the Motrin l left there for the kids were given back and i was told i had to bring a doctors note in for it). logs of when the children are checked in and out in every room. not having bottles/cups labeled with the child's name (which i didn't even know was a NYS rule and i am guilty of sending things in with no names though they always ask you do this) stuff like that

i have a younger DS that goes there too. i think i am leaning toward just leaving them there for DD to at least finish Pre-k out

In this case if it seems like paperwork violations and nothing serious like leaving a child unattended, then I would just keep your kids there if you/they are happy. The daycare I am sending my DD to has a few of those paperwork violations that had been corrected as well from what I saw on the OFCS website. I made sure to call all references though and all the parents have wonderful things to say so I'm not worried.

I posted on the other thread about KBTB. If your kid was not in pre-k I would say jump ship, but since she is in pre-k I would just wait it out. I agree with you though, it is extremely hectic there and it's the reason why I pulled my 2 year old out.
