If you recently delivered at Winthrop
I am having my fourth c-section, and tubal, in April. With my last 2 kids I delivered at plain view, but that is no longer an option. I am hearing that Winthrop is crazy strict with breastfeeding and rooming in. I do plan on breastfeeding, but I like to send the baby back after a midnight feeding, let the nursery give a bottle for the middle of the night and hen get the baby back the next morning, usually around 5 or 6, has anyone done this and they've been okay? I can't sleep in the hospital to begin with, especially after the section and those few hours can really help

If you recently delivered at Winthrop
My friend was there in August. She also did not want to go to Winthrop because of these policies and loved Plainview. However it was a non issue for her. She told them she wanted them to take the baby at night and that she wanted formula. They gave her one talk and then she was able to do it her way! Best of luck!

I was there in the spring... when I felt tired overnight I fed the baby then pressed the buzzer for them to bring him to the nursery. I was too worried to fall asleep holding him due to exhaustion. I even told them once to take the next feeding with formula cause I needed some more rest.

Thanks! Plainview was so nice! I had a private room since it isn't as big as Winthrop, my husband and kids could really come and go and they didn't say a word when I sent the baby to the nursery.
I am hoping Winthrop sees that this is my fourth and will cut me some slack, it's hard enough to stand up and bend over to get the baby out of the bassinet after the section, I don't want to add utter exhaustion to the mix. My friend was saying i should have my pediatrician write a script for formula because they are so strict. I bfed my youngest until she was 2, and this is what I did with her when I had her, she was in that nursery for the night

I sent my ds to nursery overnight so I could sleep the night. It was the best thing since I knew I wasn't going to get a night sleep for a long long time. I wasn't give. any guilt trips although I was given breastfeeding pamphlets and took the breastfeeding class. They also wouldn't give my daughter her pacifier. But whatever it's a great hospital with excellent staff.

Thank you! I am definitely giving the baby a pacifier, but if it's something I have to wait until I get home to do, that's okay, my youngest didn't take one until she was a few weeks old, and definitely not from me. I just want the baby in the nursery at night, and for them to give baby a bottle for the middle of the night feeding

Re: If you recently delivered at Winthrop
I was recently speaking to someone who gave birth at Winthrop, and while they did take her dc into the nursery at her request overnight, her roommate kept the baby in the room and was up most of the night (in turn keeping her up).
On a side note, it saddens and angers me that any establishment can try to force or guilt a new mother into doing anything. Be strong!
