Private health insurance or Obamacare?
Does anyone get insurance privately for their family or get insurance through the affordable care act? Our family insurance will jump to $1700 montly and that is words beyond ridiculous. When we inquired with our Pediatrician and all of our Drs, none of them accept Obamacare plans.
Can anyone tell me if you found a good Pediatrician, Obgyn, PCP that accepts Obamacare? I don't know what to do, I feel like such a failure to my kids that I can't afford to provide them with good healthcare.

Re: Private health insurance or Obamacare?
I currently have Oscar thru the ACA Platinum plan plenty of Drs take it. it's just under $1400 for just me and DH. So family will be up there as well
You should go to the ACA website and have an agent contact you. They will be able to help you find what plan will work best for you.

Re: Private health insurance or Obamacare?
Did you try Care Connect? If the majority of your doctors are a pet of the North Shore/LIJ health system then this insurance is great. I pay $920 / month for myself and 5 defendants. It's a $15 copy for primary/$35 for specialist and $55 for urgent care (CityMD). It's not bad. Health insurance is crazy $$$$$ but I found this is the most affordable and for us it works since all of our primary care doctors accept it. Good luck - you are not a failure It's tough out there!!

Private health insurance or Obamacare?
I used Tracy her number is 631 805-1241 I had no clue about insurance and she gave me some affordable options off the market..care connect, bcbs, Oxford the coverages on the market didn't work for us and the off market options were much better. Her email is [email protected] she's a health insurance advisor and doesn't charge a fee my Aflac guy recommended her she's great

Re: Private health insurance or Obamacare?
I have insurance through my job for dh and I. my kids are on child health plus and it's much more affordable through NYS than my job.
BC of our income, we qualify for some healthcare credit/assistance but it's easier to have it taken out of my paycheck for dh and I though we pay more.

Re: Private health insurance or Obamacare?
I also just got Oscar through exchange. For a medium grade plan it's about 1300. All my doctors take it. Care connect was a little cheaper but I didn't want to be restricted to lij providers.

Re: Private health insurance or Obamacare?
I would stick with the private health insurance.
We had a temporary lapse in health insurance and I looked into the plans available on the exchange. The cheaper plans have huge deductibles. If anything were to happen, you would have to come out of pocket thousands of dollars.

Obamacare SUCKS! We were on it for a few months. NOBODY takes it.
If you are middle class it also costs you A FORTUNE! And still no decent doctor takes it.

I thought doctors HAD TO take the ACA plans! Wasn't that part of the point?

Re: Private health insurance or Obamacare?
We just switched to care connect. All of our docs take it. It is not only northshore Lij. It is also all pro health doctors. There are many fantastic docs in pro health....
It is actually cheaper for us on care connect than it was on health republic....

Re: Private health insurance or Obamacare?
Looks like care connect has a ridiculous dedictible. I don't care about paying less per month if when I have to use it regularly we go bankrupt. I had no idea how bad ACA was. It's like all smoke and mirrors.

Dear G*d in Heaven. I almost died reading how much some of you pay each month. I will never complain about how much I pay for my family's benefits.

It totally is useless for struggling Americans. If something happened to you, you'd still have to come out like $10k. $10k for many Americans will bankrupt them.

The great parts are great. The useless parts are useless.
If you have NON ACA insurance its great. Kids covered for a long time etc etc etc.
But looking at the options and deductibles.....wow. I'm sorry people have to deal with this.
Let me ask, if ACA was not available would you have no insurance at all? (NOT A FLAME). I also realize that $1200 a month with a $10k deductible is $22k a year.

We lost insurance for a few months due to a paperwork issue. We ended up getting catastrophic insurance because our options were so sh*tty. We have to pay every dollar out of pocket until $10,000 but I think our insurance cost us like $300 for 4 months or something really low like that.
Knock on wood. The kids and I have not had to go to the doctor and our new insurance from DH's work will start 1/1/16.
ACA winners are those with pre-existing conditions that may not have been able to obtain insurance otherwise. Healthy people are the losers because their premiums pay for those who are already very sick.

Exactly. These are the only people it benefits. It's so pricey that many healthy young folk are just going without and paying the penalty (which is a lot less than paying for insurance).

Re: Private health insurance or Obamacare?
If we kept Oxford Liberty, we would be at $1900 a month for just DH and I. Also copays were $35 & $55 And Needed referrals. It was terrible.
Switching to Oscar at $1400 a month, no referrals with copays of $15 + $35 is a steal.
How sad is that ?
We also don't qualify for any discounts because we make too much money.
It's such BS.

Private health insurance or Obamacare?
I am a teacher on leave and we pay $1600 a month for Cobra. I debated and researched between private, Obama care and Cobra and honestly with the deductibles and having to search for new doctors if I got a new plan the Cobra came out ahead..it sad that insurance has come to this Obamacare does not seem like it is geared toward the middle class. The only good thing Obamacare did was get rid of preexisting conditions for coverage.
