1st bday party - gift ediquitte?
DH, DS and I are invited to a first bday party in a casual restaurant. Do I give cash as a gift or toys ??? What is the right amount? For friends kids that had a backyard or gymboree party i always bought a $50 toy. Is this the same or different?

They are old friends, but we only see them 1-2x per year. I was leaning towards $100 and giving a toy for xmas. This helped! Thank you!

I think cash would be appreciated. We already had a ton of toys so any money we got we put into our DS' savings account.

When we had dds first birthday we received gifts of toys/cash/clothes anywhere between $10-$100, with most in the $25-$50 range, whether for a family, single, or couple.

Re: 1st bday party - gift ediquitte?
I would do cash bc I wouldn't know what they have or will get as gifts already

I would never base my gift choice on the location of the party.
Because you're not around the kid that much and may not know what they have/like, I'd think cash is appropriate.

Birthday parties for kids I always give a toy. Money IMO is reserved for Weddings and Christenings.
Gift receipt so they can return if they want. And never base a gift on the party. Ig vie what I give no matter where you have a party

This. And I definitely would not spend more than $50.
