IVF advice-update
Hi ladies. I started my IVF protocol last Wednesday. I'm on 225 follistim and 150 of Menopur. As of today (Wednesday) I only have 7 follicles. I'm so upset that I only have 7. My last cycle I was doing IUI with 300 Follistim and had 13 follicles ( most did not get big enough to be viable for the IUI). This is my last try for a baby as I'm self pay and out of money. I'm seriously thinking about canceling the cycle and starting again next month with hope of more. I really thought the number of follicles would be closer to my last injectable cycle. I know that just because there are 7 now, doesn't mean they will be able to retrieve 7 and that some of those that they retrieve will not make it to day 3 or even 5 for transfer. I'm so afraid that I'll have just 1 or 2 viable embryos if I'm lucky. Any words of advice and your experiences would be greatly appreciated. So upset right now. Thank you.
Feb 1 update- I ended up going forward with the cycle. Since there was no guarantee that I'd respond better next month and I could even do worse, I didn't feel I could risk losing almost $2,000 and starting over again and having to come up with that money next month with no guarantees for better results. My FSH level was at max so it's not a matter of upping the Follistim to get more follicles. It's just how I responded this time and could be the same next month too. I have 8 follicles and will have my retrieval on Wednesday. Hoping maybe there are a couple of follicles hiding when they do it on Wednesday. Thanks for feedback and support!

Re: IVF advice
I think it may still be too early to tell. I remember feeling disappointed earlier in my IVF cycle when comparing to my injectible IUI cycle but the nurses reassured me that the protocol was working. Have you addressed your concerns with your doctor?

Re: IVF advice
I agree. It may be too soon to tell.
When i did IVF , I was on Max dose meds for close to 2 weeks. So you can still stim for another 5-7 days to get some more. Plus when I went in for retrieval, they found more than they expected.

Same here - lots more than they originally counted.

Re: IVF advice
I've been stimming for seven days but slowly his time which I'm surprised about because the last two IUIs I ovulated before we were hoping, not allowing all th efollicles to get big enough to be viable. I'm going slow enough that they don't want to see me until Friday now. I talked to my dr. My FSH number is at max stim level he said so they aren't changing my doses. I have one follicle measuring 10, three follicles at 9.5, three at 8 and three small ones that they didn't bother measuring I found out. He said it's not the best response but it's not terrible. He said he wouldn't cancel at this point though it's up to me. He said stimulation is unpredictable. I could get more next month, less or same amount. His recommendation is to wait and see what Friday brings before making the decision to cancel the cycle. I'm also waiting on a phone call from the financial department to let me know how much money I loose if I stop now. This follicle counting Is very stressful. It's the most stressful part of every cycle for me. Thanks for the input, it's made me feel better that others have been in the same boat.

IVF advice
Most likely Friday will look better. I know its hard to wait but thats all you can do.
My first IVF I regret not canceling because we only got 5 embryos. I should of been stimming higher and probably should of converted that cycle to IUI or just cancel but since it was my first IVF I didn't know any better. UHH
I was on Follistim at 300 for my successful IVF. I had many more eggs.
Hopefully Friday looks better. Good luck!
