ready to feed formula and spit up

I give dd powdered formula, but I was out all morning and decided it would be easier to just bring some of the little 2 oz liquid cans with me. She spit it all up! Does anyone else have this problem with he ready-to-feed formula?

Yes with my first. The only time she ever spit up was when we gave her RTF.

Yep. It's thinner than the powder so they tend to spit it up more.

I had that issue with DS. I ended up buying some of the single serve powder packets and bottled water fro days like that or for on the airplane

Check out Mixie bottles. SO helpful when you're out! The formula is stored in the bottom and water on top, so when you're ready you just push a button on the bottom and shake and it's good to go!

DS hated it. Luckily he liked Baby's Only Organic and took it cold or room temp so I always just brought a bottle of water with a container of powder when we were out.

I got a munchkin formula dispenser and kept it in my diaper bag. Then just bottles of water and mixed it in.

yes. DD does not do well with the RTF at ALL. I use the formula dispensers and just carried bottled water with me and mixed it. Enfamil also sells to go packets (like crystal light packets). Not sure about similac.

I think babies get used to the powdered formula. I agree with another mom. Buy the formula dispenser (Walmart sells it for $3) and bring a bottle of water with you. LIFESAVER!

Had this problem with LO. He had bad reflux though but it was worse when we used RTF.

I noticed a few people said they use a bottle of water to mix the formula.

I thought it had to be special water and not just plain bottle water....?

Cooled boiled water. And you can definitely carry that in a regular water bottle, especially if you sterilize it first.

You don't need special water. You could use faucet water. I filter through brita. I carry around a dr Browns bottle with 6 oz water and acap in it. I have a formula dispenser with 3 scoops in each compartment. I just dump mix and feed.

Regular bottled water is fine.
As is tap water
I only used water from the Brita to make DD's bottles for the whole year she was on formula.
It's fine.
I never in my life boiled water for her bottles..

No need to use special water. We used bottle water but only because I don't drink tap water and if I don't drink it didn't want to give it to the babies

Re: ready to feed formula and spit up

We had the opposite problem - she spit up powdered formula. Maybe because it was airier?

Anyways, I recommend the little powder formula dispensers from tommee tippee. They make them to go in their bottles but we didn't use their bottles; just used them to premeasure one bottles worth of powder in each container. So much easier than the big three-compartment ones

Really? I though powder was thinner than rtf?

Re: ready to feed formula and spit up

For me, I used a bottle with water in in it when I made bottles on the go with powder from the dispenser. No necessarily "bottled" water like Poland Spring, etc.
