Let's talk Christmas gifts
So, last year I was nearly done shopping by this point. This year I'm seriously slacking. The boys get WAY too much for Christmas, so I'm trying to scale back. So far I have a pair of dinosaur hands, a kid pogo stick, a bunch of superhero capes, a mini trampoline, and some books. I'm putting my 3 year old in hockey soon, so I might get him some hockey stuff. I also have my other son's 2nd birthday at the beginning of December, so I'll probably give him the capes. I don't know what else to get- I'm trying to stay away from toys. We're already members of LICM.
What are you getting for your kids?

Let's talk Christmas gifts
For dd who will be 2.5, wooden baby doll furniture, learning games, books. From family members I put some box subscriptions on her list, along with Legos, learning toys, books, and a few other small things. There's really no big ticket items she doesn't have, and we basically have memberships to everywhere.
Ds will be 2 months, so bath toys, an ll bean travel bag like dds, a toy work bench. From family were asking for more boy geared things to last him until his birthday in October (I usually ration toys), so Melissa and Doug boy puzzles, oxo toddler feeding stuff, some baby sports toys, clothes, super hero little people, boy books, etc

Re: Let's talk Christmas gifts
I'm trying to scale back on toys this year, they get SO much between family and "Santa" that it's just crazy. DH and I decided that we're going to get them a few gifts from Santa, things they REALLY want, and then their "big gift" on Xmas morning is going to be a Disney vacation that we're taking in May. We feel like we'd rather spend money on experiences and vacations where we can really enjoy our time together as a family over more "stuff". We have so much "stuff", they don't need ten tons more. They will love getting to go back to Disney far more than ANY toy we could give them.

Let's talk Christmas gifts
The big ticket item is going to be a tool bench for LO. Baby #2 is due the week before so I'm probably just going to get 1 or 2 things. I'm going to Kidz Kloset on Friday so I'm hoping I can snag some items then. We're buying a house so we can finally get the bigger stuff that we don't have for LOs.

Re: Let's talk Christmas gifts
When I start shopping early I buy way too much so I wait. DD's big gift will be a bike. She wants an American girl doll too so I may get her that and some stuff for that. DS is 9 I have NO clue. He doesn't play with toys including his xbox and already has an ipad so what else is there...

Re: Let's talk Christmas gifts
I can't shop early because DD's wish list changes like the wind. So what she may want now will be long forgotten and by December she'll want something new and exciting.
So i just wait and do it all online

Let's talk Christmas gifts
Dd1 so far I got a beado set back on prime day, a doll and me pajama set, a science experiment kit, books. No idea what else to get her.
Dd2 will be 2 and so far I got her the hape toys Keurig, puzzles, doll and me pjs, a little egg shape match thing. Re: Let's talk Christmas gifts
DS 8 (turns 8, 5 days after Christmas)- little passports, Legos, Pokemon, Fitbit, and books.
For his bday- we are going to kalahari for 3 days
DD 6- orbeez, American girl furniture and gift cards, balance beam, gym mat, and build a bear gift card.
DD 3- American girl furniture, iPad and I'm redoing her room (frozen themed). Her bday is Dec 4th- and we are going to American girl store where she can pick out a doll etc
DS 10 months- no clue, possibly a wagon and clothes.
We also are doing 2 family gifts. Getting a dual TV put in my mini van, and a projector for movie nights outside.

Let's talk Christmas gifts
3 year old dd finally has gotten the concept of asking Santa for gifts. I'm buying a gift a week. I started last week. I got her an octonauts bath toy. She has 2 and has been asking for the rest of the fleet.
Her list this year is: Octonauts Peppa Pig Paw Patrol Super Hero Girls Makeup (play set) Books Blind bags of shopkins (she is obsessed) Christmas and Christmas Eve pajamas
My aunt goes insane for us so I'm keeping it calm this year and have to remind dh to do the same. I'm slowly trying to get rid of toys she doesn't touch now.

Re: Let's talk Christmas gifts
DS is 7 and DD will be only about 1 1/2 months old for Christmas this year.
We're scaling back big time this year because I will still be on maternity leave and I don't get paid, so money will be very tight.
DD we'll get 1 or 2 little things. She'll be too little to really "need" anything or even remember it.
DS I usually let him circle some stuff in the Big Book from Toys R Us and DH and I choose from there what we want to get him.
We do plan to get a swing set for the backyard in the spring, so that's going to be his "big" gift.

I'm getting the Battleworn BB8 with force band this month.. SOOOOO we are saying that my current BB8 is being traded in.. (lie)
We are boxing it up and re-gifting it to my daughter Win-Win
Other than that.... maybe the Space Little Bits set.
That's it other than the stocking.. NOTHING ELSE!

Re: Let's talk Christmas gifts
I am usually much more prepared. I know I will give some books. I may just do one big gift and a few small things. I was thinking maybe new bikes or new scooters.

Re: Let's talk Christmas gifts
We go very minor on gifts for Christmas. We spend $ on them year round... So we get one item for each from Santa. They don't get presents from us. They will figure out soon we are Santa. Don't know what we are doing this year. In the past it has been: Trike Train table Indoor playhouse Dollhouse Collection of toy animals: horses & sea creatures

Re: Let's talk Christmas gifts
Haha! Too true! I love Christmas but I'm not the type to do things early. On the rare occasions that I have in the past I wind up forgetting all about the things I bought until I accidentally find them in the back of the closet way after the fact.

I was laid off so I'm buying a little at a time instead of waiting to the last minute. Helps me manage my budget.

Let's talk Christmas gifts
Last year, I was done shopping by now and because I was shopping deals, I stayed under budget and still went way overboard with gifts. DD actually asked to stop opening presents last Christmas, so I'm scaling wayyy back this year. I have no clue what to get her for anything now, she'll be 4 this Dec. she's been really into watching movies on Friday nights (it's our special treat to her) so I think she'll get some DVDs and clothes. That's probably it though
