Kindergarten
DS is having such a hard time. He is hitting and screaming and crying again, his emotions are so heightened. I wonder how much of it is just transition and how much is the overwhelming nature of the curriculum.
We all find his focus is gone, what little he had as he has ADHD. He can't sit for homework so home has become a war zone. We have a doc appt to talk meds in nov, but im trying to push it up. I know its not a fix all, but i think it will help drastically.
just a vent, but please share if you are experiencing similar or have been here
prob doesn't help that we are 6 weeks from baby #2 being born and DS is very excited, but im sure nervous and anxious

Kindergarten

I am going through the same thing. My son is hating kindergarten, he is eloping, will not get on the school bus, hitting, pushing, etc. Homework only started this week and on day two the homework was torn up into little pieces. I feel like I am getting little support from the school right now and we are going to committee on the 5th. Also, I am looking into getting behavior therapy at home through our insurance. Only recently did I find out that this is covered by insurance and they will come to the home 7 days a week the hours that you need to do this. I am hoping to get approved for that and to get it in place soon.

Sorry to crash but how do you get this through insurance? I tried to get this through the SD and they denied me.

Re: Kindergarten
What setting is your son in? One of my twins (in ICT) hates hw. I already met with his teacher about it. He understands everything and can do the math but really really hates writing. It is so hard for him. He gets OT 2x a week in school and she is doing some 1-1 with him. She told us not to push it. We don't want him to hate hw and school really just began. She was like I think it's ridiculous they even get hw in kindergarten. They are exhausted by the time the day is done.
I give my son a lot of praise even when I want to rip my hair out. She gave us some suggestions-the fat pencils (easier to write with), grippers for the skinny pencils (easier to hold the pencil), and to try a #1 pencil (it writes darker-my son does not use enough pressure when he writes).
Hang in there!

My son is in special ed 12:1:1 where cognitively he doesn't belong, but behaviorally he does. She wants me to push on the HW and I don't want to as I know he will grow to hate school because of it.
thanks for the support and tips!

Oh I totally understand. My other son is in a 12 setting for the exact same reason. His is really lack of focus and he gets distracted.
