For those of you who are pro choice what is your take on mandatory vaccination policy and death with dignity being legalized. Ie, if you are terminally ill you can get a lethal dose of medication to end your suffering from a doctor. I don't want a debate on either of these issues just curious if people believe in bodily anatomy in other circumstance.

Also want to mention that the topic of being prolife but also pro death penalty and pro military spending/war is also contradictory in some people's view.

Interesting point - Conservative ideology upholds the belief in pro-life, pro-military and pro-death penalty. Why then are we so hung up on abortions?

For many (not all...), "pro-life" is a mislabel. They are actually "pro-birth". To be pro-life, IMO, you want to see ALL life promoted, and be against nearly all forms of preventable death.

To be truly "pro-life", you need to support welfare, food stamps, allowing refugees in the country, anti-war, helping starving countries, anti death penalty, etc....

Yes - you are definitely correct. Pro-birth is exactly what it is.

Pro-death with dignity

And I believe everyone should be vaccinated because herd immunity protects society as a whole, but I agree that some of them should remain optional (flu shot, and I'm on the fence with the hpv shot, I'm sure there are a few others).

Re: Abortion spinoff

I'm totally in favor of death with dignity.
I would love for vaccinations to be mandatory, but I feel so strongly that the government should not dictate how we take care of our bodies, so I'm against that one (both of my children get every vaccination if that makes a difference).

Same.

Same here. As mentioned by others, as soon as your choice affects others, it's no longer strictly your choice....

All of this.

Yup...this...

Same here. I honestly feel like people should have a choice in how they live their lives and what is done with their bodies.

Yup. Same here.

I'm very pro "death with dignity"

When our pets are at the end of their lives, and are in constant pain, we call it "humane" to end their lives with dignity... but we can't give that same humane treatment to humans.....

I think vaccines are helpful and important but ultimately the structure of the shot schedule should be determined by parents. I know that we need vaccines as a society to keep dangerous diseases at bay but I really think we are over-vaccinating and preventing our immune systems from properly doing its job - not to mention the influx of allergies and reactions that the shots can cause.

As for death with dignity/assisted suicide, yes, I am totally for that. I think not allowing terminally ill patients to die in a dignified and controlled way is by far one of the cruelest things we can do as a society. Even in death people deserve to have the power to make these kinds of decisions. Taking away that power is, like I said, cruel. Forcing people to endure their illness and suffering can do no good in my eyes.

Partially pro choice - if that makes sense.
Pro death with dignity.
Not for mandatory vaccinations. My kids are on a super spaced schedule.

Our veterinarian told us that his sister is a doctor. And she made the point to him that he has an advantage over her -- he has a mechanism to end the suffering of animals and she does not have that option for her patients. It struck a chord with me, especially after watching my MIL suffer greatly during the last week of her life and there was nothing we could do for her other than dope her up with morphine.

As for mandatory vaccines, I am for them, although I would not make a flu shot mandatory. Individuals who are not vaccinated could potentially affect the health of others.

I actually read a really good book with that as the subject. I had no idea what it was about going into it, but I really enjoyed it.

Pro-choice
Against mandatory vaccines, while I give them to all my kids, I don't feel the government should be involved since they get big pharma kick backs

Completely for legalizing end of life planning. Watching my father die end of June into July was the hardest thing I've ever gone through. It has scarred me for life and I wish he didn't suffer like he did. I also am for it bc after seeing a few hospice nurses, I think it's unfair to allow just anyone to look after someone when there dying, some people truly get into the wrong profession.
