Birthday party the day after thanksgiving
Any menu suggestions? I have no idea what to serve. It's just family but I'm having a hard time coming up with any ideas whatsoever. My husband's side isn't adventurous at all, my side likes everything, and my bil is a fine dining chef so it always makes me nervous to cook for him.

Whenever I don't know what to do, I go Italian. Especially being this will be day after thanksgiving. Any type of roast or veggie sides, etc., will be very similar to TG dinner.
Go with baked ziti, meatballs, sausage, garlic. BRead, etc. always a crowd pleaser

No idea really. I don't go crazy with themes for a small family party. I'll probably just let dd pick a few decorations so most likely Sophia,Minnie, or Elmo.

Last family party we had ziti so I'd love to do something else. Also, dh is gluten free so while it's still doable it's not the easiest for me.

Birthday party the day after thanksgiving
Since it's the day after thanksgiving, I would do something simple where you don't really have to cook. Maybe order pizzas, a hero and make a salad.

it makes it easier for me to menu plan when I have a theme to work around. since there isnt a theme, I was just thinking pizza. They make gluten free pizza and you can have any type of toppings your kids like on it. You can always do different salads for sides.

I was going to suggest the same thing..something totally different than Thanksgiving dinner. Since you did Italian last year, what about Mexican? You could do cheese quesadillas, rice, and have everyone make their own tacos.

Birthday party the day after thanksgiving
Okay thinking about the theme more, I'm thinking maybe I'll do Minnie theme and do a hot dog bar. This way I can make some fun toppings and sides but those who want to go simple can go simple. We love Mexican but I don't think some of my ILs would even eat that! I know everyone at least eats hot dogs.
Does that sound okay?

Maybe do a hot dog/chili bar? We went to a block party, chili cook off and it was super fun....

Yeah I was thinking it would be easy to make some pulled pork and chili ahead of time for either toppings or on their own if anyone wants. I figured cheese, relish, onions, jalapeños, hot sauce, ketchup, mustard, bbq sauce, baffled beans, Mac n cheese. Add a green salad and I think I'd be good. Anything I'm missing?

Birthday party the day after thanksgiving
Just went to a birthday party and they had a baked potato bar....it was perfect. Broccoli, cheese, scallions, bacon, chili, pulled pork sour cream etc as toppings. Chill/pulled pork were options for people to eat on their own too. It was so yummy!.

We are having my twins' 6th bday party with the family the same day and doing exactly this! Pizzas and cake.

Birthday party the day after thanksgiving
My DS's birthday is 2 days after, also. We're making a bunch of pizzas with different toppings/veggies and making a salad bar on the buffet. Seriously staying away from warm and cozy party food after Thanksgiving. I'm also making a big platter of cut fruit.
