I think the entertainment is just on the way there. Then you go to the show (or wherever). Then your ticket is good for a non themed ride back without a reserved seat. I'm going to call tomorrow to clarify.

Re: LIRR Offering a Holiday Express Train Ride
The 34 dollars includes a show ticket?
Do you have to buy a show ticket.

No it doesn't include the show ticket. Kids are $1.00, so just train ride. They will give you a discount code to use for the show. I don't think they are going to make you go to the show. You could take the train and do whatever you want when you get off. I think the appeal is that a character from the show will be on the train, and then you go to the show and see the character in the show.

This is all fun and games until the train breaks down halfway there, you're out $35 (plus the cost of the show) and you and your kids are freezing your a$$ses off at Jamaica.

Does the train really break down on weekends that often? Every time we have taken the train we have never had an issue

This is what I was thinking.
I very rarely take the train on weekends but I don't see how a mechanical problem couldn't happen on a weekend.
I was only kidding, though. They will likely take special care to make sure this particular train doesn't break down.

They should've emailed it to you with the confirmation.

Re: LIRR Offering a Holiday Express Train Ride
$35 per adult to ride the LIRR one way???
no amount of 'special guest' or holiday decorations would entice me to pay that much to ride it. It's a cute idea, but that's a lot of money for a one way ticket on a regular old commuter train. Unless Santa himself is serving me hot toddies.. then maybe it would be worth it!
and yes, the trains can and do break down on weekends, and there are signal problems, leaves on the track, unauthorized people on the tracks, cars on the tracks etc.. all the issues that happen on the weekdays happen on the weekends too

Bah Humbug It's actually round trip, so not much more than a regular ride to the city
