Extremely Low Rising Beta
I don’t post much on here but, unfortunately I'm a long time poster, TTC for 9 years. Its pretty disgusting actually!
I did an FET on Nov 11 and transferred 4 embryos. Since I didn’t want to know on Thanksgiving; I had my first beta on Monday, the 28th. HCG was an 88. On Wednesday it was 92; and today it's 103.
I get this may not be viable; but I’m scared out of my mind that this could be an ectopic. I don’t have dizziness or nausea; or any excruciating pain (yet).
Dr wants a sono on Tues; and I‘m just a wreck. Its just so unfair that a M/C is hard enough; and now I have the chance to possibly need a D&C.
Would I have painful symptoms if this was an Ectopic? I’m so friggin’ scared; I can cry.

Extremely Low Rising Beta
I don't have any experience with an ectopic but I just wanted to reach out and send hugs.. Stay positive, hopefully they figure it out on Tuesday.

Re: Extremely Low Rising Beta
I had the same thing happen to me....dont worry, I dont think its ectopic (fingers crossed )
My beta started out like yours (first 30, then 50, then 90 then 145, then 200 etc), would rise 20-40 points until it hit about 600-700...I then started bleeding and the pregnancy ended (I was about 6 weeks pregnant - they labeled it as a chemical pregnancy since we didnt see the heartbeat)
The waiting was hell! beta tests every 2 days, sonos to rule out ectopic...You dont see anything on the sono until your beta is above 1000...until then its hell....from what I know, ectopic betas are higher with bigger jumps but of course can't rule out anything....
GL to you! hope you get your answers soon!

Extremely Low Rising Beta
I had an ectopic with my first IVF. Started with a low beta (25) which did double a few times until I got in the 400's. I had a ton of bleeding. A ton. Didn't have any aches or pains until later on which felt like dull pressure if that makes any sense, but that could have been in my head.
Hang in there. Sorry you are going through this!

Wow! sorry to hear...how did they tell it was ectopic? did they see it on the sono? did your beta get to over 1000?
They could not see anything on me since my beta did not go over 600....

Beta went from low 400's to high 400's in 2 days so they asked me to stop meds. 2 days later it was in the high 600's so they had me come in for the methotrexate shot.
He did a sono but really couldn't tell for sure. He thought he could see something on the left tube but was pretty uncertain.
For me the hardest part was the limbo and the shot itself bc it meant a forced 3 month break. I hope this is not the case for you though!

Re: Extremely Low Rising Beta
Thanks for all your responses.
I already stopped my meds two days ago (as instructed). But this Beta hell is just that........HELL. The slow increase is confusing me. I had a chemical 2 years ago and the HCG was in the 30's and never went up from there. Period came a week later.
I hope I don't become part of a sono hell either. Not sure what the DR thinks he is going to see with an HCG of 100???? My fear is the 3 month wait; and with my age; I dont have that type of time on my hands. I am also afraid of that shot if they suggest it.
Its always something.........

I'm sorry you're going through this.
Don't be afraid of the shot itself. I had 0 side effects (and I'm very sensitive to all meds) the shot is the best choice in the case of an ectopic to avoid surgery.
The 3 month wait does suck but in the grande scheme of things, 3 months won't make the much of a difference going forward.

Re: Extremely Low Rising Beta
I am so sorry. I had a slow rising beta. In the end my doctor said the HCG rose because the placenta was doing its job even though the baby never formed. So it might not be an ectopic.

Did the HCG end up dropping? Thanks for this info. That's very interesting actually. I hope that's the case.

Yes it did. It was up to at 2000 before it dropped. Since it was a blighted ovum I let it pass naturally. No D&C. So there was the rise from the placenta trying to do it's job.

Re: Extremely Low Rising Beta
I'm so sorry your HCG isn't rising well. I have never had an ectopic but I was just as scared that my second pregnancy was with my slow rising beta. I was monitored very closely and finally after a torturous week of waiting they confirmed that it was not ectopic. I did end up miscarrying on my own a week later. It was still hard, but knowing it wasn't ectopic did make me feel a little.better.

Re: Extremely Low Rising Beta
I am so sorry you are going through this. Beta hell is the worst. Any updates? FWIW, it doesn't sound like ectopic to me. Your betas can rise with a miscarriage as well. I actually think they might have risen more with an ectopic but still not doubled. Either way, I am so sorry.

Thank you!
My beta started dropping at my third beta. So no ectopic; at least one good thing came out of this. That's about all I can say.

I'm so sorry about your miscarriage but I'm glad it wasn't ectopic. It is still so hard though. I'm glad you don't have to wait the three months but take the time you need to heal. I've been there before and it is tough.
