Pregnant and Bridesmaid?

I just found out that I'm pregnant (just missed my period and took several HPTs so I'm guessing I'm about 4 weeks along). My best friend's wedding is literally the week I'm due. I just received a little letter and gift in the mail yesterday asking to be a bridesmaid. Obviously I won't be able to at that far along but I don't want to tell anyone about the pregnancy this early. I have to call her sometime this week to say I got the gift and also because I heard that her dad is in the hospital ICU. What should I tell her?? She can't keep secrets and her mom works with my mom so I'm worried she'll say something. I at least wanted to wait until my first obgyn appt around 8 weeks to tell my parents.

I don't think it's a big deal to accept and then change your mind when you're ready to come out. I wouldn't tell anyone now, but it's not like she's going to expect you to buy your dress tomorrow! Once you're farther along just explain to her that you are so happy for her, but unfortunately life got in the way of you being able to be a bridesmaid. If she's your best friend, she will understand.

Agreed. I'd just say thank you so much and you'd love to be there for her on her big day. Then change the subject. It's not unreasonable to think you wouldn't know at this point.

If it was literally my best friend, I'd tell the truth now.

I think this might be the easiest, but for the sake of keeping secrets both act like you accepted normally until you are out.

And to make is easier on the bride (since normal people can become crazy brides ) make sure you phase it "I would love to be part of your wedding but......., I still want be a part of your special day as much as possible"

My best friend knew I was pregnant before dh did. Lol but she is my confidant for every little thing. If you are worried that she can't keep the secret then accept and when you are ready to share the news let her know immediately. Also, assure you still want to be a part of everything like dress shopping and such.

ETA: totally didn't read your post all the way through LOL... I would accept and then tell her the news in a few weeks. Nothing will be done between now and then in terms of planning probably

I would accept and then tell her in a few weeks. I'm sure she's not going out to go bridesmaid dress shopping tomorrow. And if she does, tell her then if it's before you are ready

Im assuming if you weren't pregnant you would accept right? If so, I would accept now and tell her you're pregnant when you're ready. You guys can figure it out then. Like pp said, it's so early it's not unreasonable for you to be cautious.

Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!!!
