Basement bathroom
Has anyone put in a shower in their basement? Can you tell me about how much it cost?
Right now it's a half bath, with enough room to add a bathtub or shower and I would love to do it, but my DH keeps telling me it's going to be an insane amount since it's on concrete. I should add it's not totally a basement, since we have a high ranch, but still on concrete, so I figure the price should be similar.
TIA!

Re: Basement bathroom
We added a 3/4 bath to our basement (there was nothing there before) so we had to start from bare plumbing and framing, etc. It cost us about $12k. It was really needed for us because our house only has one bath.

we put a bathroom and shower in our basement, along with moving our washer/dryer to the other side of the basement next to the hw heater and added baseboards so we can run heat to them if we decide. Total cost was just under 5k. I'd imagine JUST adding a shower would be under 1k, plus tiling the shower. We paid a guy $500 to tile the shower for us and we supplied the tiles and grout
ETA: this was the cost for just the plumbing/shower pan... Dh did wainscoting on the walls and painted the upper-half. You already have a bathroom, though, and if you are not needing to break walls to make the room bigger in order to accommodate for a shower, I can't imagine it would be that expensive
