Lump Behind Ear
Hi, ok please talk me down from the ledge. I check DC VERY thoroughly for ticks every day, so I know every inch of their bodies. Today, I noticed a hard lump behind DD's ear (she's 5). It doesn't hurt or itch her. It wasn't there yesterday. I made the mistake of googling it and of course now I have the worst case scenario in my head. I'm taking her to the doctor tomorrow. Does anyone know what this could be?? Has anyone's DC ever had this?

Lump Behind Ear
I get that sometimes. They're pimples and go away on their own.

Re: Lump Behind Ear
Could be just a lymph node. They swell when fighting an infection (recent colds?). Do check out with MD... and stop the google.

Re: Lump Behind Ear
Sounds like a swollen lymph node. I often get that behind my ear when I'm sick.

Agree with the swollen lymph node. DS got it in his groin area after his MMR shot. Has she had any vaccines recently?

Re: Lump Behind Ear
Thanks all! Dr said it's a swollen lymph node and it's fairly common. She said she probably has a virus brewing, and to keep my eye on her. Dr said the bump is not hard (I thought it was) and it "moves" somewhat, so she's not at all concerned that it's something more serious that I was fearing. It may be around for awhile though. Thanks for your responses. (Oh someone asked if she's had vaccines lately...no). I feel better!
