thoughts on combining baptism party for DD2 and birthday party for DD1?
I've never heard/read of anyone doing this before, but I am curious to hear your thoughts.
Most of our friends have kids, so to do a nice baptism party we would consider hiring some entertainment for the kids.
my older daughter will be turning 4 not that long after we were thinking of baptizing DD2, so I started thinking...why not combine them?
then I could justify maybe spending a bit more money, renting a hall, hiring entertainment, etc.
as an invitee....what would you think of this? would you be annoyed about having a combination party? would you be confused (e.g., do you need to bring a bday gift and a baptism gift?)? or would you appreciate that you only have to go once instead of having two parties within 2 months.
still a fresh idea....so just curious on your feedback.

I think it's a great idea and I would appreciate only having to go to one party for the same family in that time frame.

If it were me, I would send out invites for only a baptism.
At the party I would cut a birthday cake for my DD since all the family was going to be there and then I would just do something special for her to celebrate her birthday on her birthday.

I agree 100%. Went to one just last week like this... but the birthday kid was 10. Though it DOES take away from the birthday. DD had a particular idea for her 4th (carousel party). I'd save on something and throw another (small) party for family and cut a cake at the baptism for extended family and friends. BTW: I threw the idea of this around for the same kid (making a baptism/first birthday).... but am glad I did 2 smaller parties.

I understand why this is tempting, but I'm not a fan. We do big baptisms and when they turn one, we forgo the big party and just do dinner and cake with a small, close group of family and friends at the house. I dont think you should take away from either one, esp a baptism since it truly is a once in a lifetime event.
I do like the idea of doing a birthday cake at the baptism and then having something separate.

My kids have parties for everything so my family and friends would be happy if they only had to go to one event and bring two presents.

If you were going to throw two separate parties, I would combine. I'm for making it as easy for guests as possible. I hate having to go to multiple parties for the same family close together.

I would not since I would want each kid to have their own event.
ETA I would bring two gifts if I was invited to a combo party.

I am not a fan of the idea.. both because a baptism is such a special once in a lifetime event and because as a guest I would not like the idea of having to purchase two separate gifts. But I also love parties, so the more the merrier. If you think your 4 year old would be ok with it, and it saves you $/time its perfectly acceptable.

Would you have invited everyone invited to both parties if you didn't combine them? If everyone would be going to two parties than combine them. If not I would keep it separate. Im not a big fan of combo parties.
