Birthday Party/ Baptism date issue: HELP!!!!!!!!!!
The boys are turning 2 on May 25. New baby will be here on or around April 10.
Need to have birthday party for the boys. Need to have baptism for the new baby.
I'd like to do both events on 1 weekend bc we have a lot of family traveling from OOS, plus the godmother will be 6 months pregnant then, so I can't put it off any longer.
The available dates at the church are Mother's Day or Memorial Day weekend....both less than ideal.
WWYD?

Re: Birthday Party/ Baptism date issue: HELP!!!!!!!!!!
I picked memorial day because the party won't actually be on Memorial Day.
Are you doing a combo party?
Also, if you have a lot of people from OOS, will they be traveling by plane to get here because the cost of a flight over Memorial Day Weekend could be a lot of money.

Re: Birthday Party/ Baptism date issue: HELP!!!!!!!!!!
I think mother's day would be to soon for the baptism. What if you are a week late or so the baby will be maybe 3 weeks old at christening and how will you be feeling.
Out of the 2 dates I would pick memorial day. My suggestion would be the first date they have in June - the boys won't know if there party is a couple of weeks late.

I concur with the June date. Personally I dislike events on holiday weekends.

Memorial Day. Go for the long weekend; it will be better for your OOT guests.

same here! I spent my very first mother's day last year at a Communion - I was less than happy, the baby was a few weeks old and I left him with my mom - I didn't even get to spend the day with my own mom -- if it can be avoided go with mem. day weekend or what about early June?

Re: Birthday Party/ Baptism date issue: HELP!!!!!!!!!!
I think Mother's Day is a day that everyone likes to spend with their own mothers and their children, not necessarily at a birthday party/baptism.
I would do it Memorial Day weekend if those are the ONLY two choices, but if you have a lot of OOT people, it may cost them a lot more to come in for that weekend since it's always pricier to travel then due to the holiday.
I personally would also try for the first weekend in June.
