When to buy convertible car seat?

When did you guys buy a convertible car seat? Did you just wait until your LO needed one or did you buy it in advance?

DD is 4 months. She is still in an infant car seat but BRU is having a sale on the convertible car seat that we want. I'm wondering if I should buy it now even though we probably won't need to transition her for a while. She's a tall baby so I highly doubt she will be in the infant car seat past 8 months or so..

I waited till she was ready for it because I didn't want to have to store it ( i have no storage in my house and we are choking) and I wanted to make sure I got the latest that was out at the time I was ready so I didn't register for it or anything like that.

However, if they are having a sale now on the one you want, I would get it. It's only a matter of a few months it seems until she will be ready for it

I bought it earlier, probably around 5/6 mos. of age, during a sale. We kept it stored away until DD was about 9 months and I was tired of lugging the car seat around. She still could've stayed in her infant seat, but if we weren't taking it out of the car, and we already had the convertible seat, we figured why not switch it.

I registered for it and kept it in the basement. DD is 9 1/2 months and we just moved her to the convertible this past weekend.

We received one from our shower and we transferred him to the seat around 13 months right before his brother needed the infant seat

For my first son, I registered for it and received it at the shower. We stored it in the attic. For my third son, we will buy it when it goes on sale and store again, if need be.

I received mine at my shower. I put them in at 6 months. Carrying 2 infant car seats is too much

We got it at the baby shower. She switched over to it at around 9 months old

We bought them when she outgrew the infant seat and needed them.

ETA: if it's on sale, I would just buy it.

We bought it when he was 10-11 months since he outgrew the infant seat.

DS is on the smaller side so he is still in his, but transferring him out next week lol ...hes 13 months

We got one at my shower so we stored that one. The second one for DH car we bought when LO was 4 months cause it was on sale and we had gift cards from Christmas. We moved DS at 8 months but he is 11 months now and could still actually fit in it.
