Wood burning stove maintenance
If you have a wood burning stove what do you do for maintenance besides cleaning the chiminy? Someone recently mentioned changing the rubber around the door every year. We have never done that. Also, I need recommendations for someone to come Clean it. We are in Suffolk. Tia

Re: Wood burning stove maintenance
I just had one of our chimneys swept. Lining and door was fine. The other 3 chimneys we won't be using but they don't have the insert like the main chimney does.
Get someone in to inspect the entire thing and have it cleaned out. Read reviews as well. Most companies are known to tell people they need a new liner even though they don't.

Re: Wood burning stove maintenance
We have a pellet stove and my DH does it all himself- other than the chimney sweep.
He pulls it out, does a through cleaning a few times a year and during the season does smaller weekly cleanings.
He learned it all on You Tube, etc. But he's the most handy person I know.
We used Rella Coal for when we purchased it and I believe they do maintenance and cleanings.
