Has anyone had any luck getting reimbursed from town

for damage to their car from hitting a pot hole?

Hubby hit a massive pot hole during the storm on Friday did about $1,000 of damage to car (2 tires, 2 rims, and alignment). He said there were a line of cars along the service road of people who had blowouts from hitting the same pot hole.

We contacted ur insurance company and it doesn't make sense to put it through our insurance, so I want to send the bill along with picturs of the damage to the town of Brookhaven.
Anyone have any tips/advice?

Depends on the town. I’ve ruined wheels and tires on the Cross Bronx and tried to get them to pay for it and got nothing. Recently bent a wheel and blew a tire on a road in the town of Babylon. My car had to be towed to the dealer (I have run flats and no spare). The paperwork to file with the town wanted 2 quotes for the work so I didn’t bother filing. I’ve also heard that if the pothole wasn’t previously reported you are out of luck, they are only responsible if someone previously reported it. Town of Babylon also required you to pick up the form in person and they were only open weekdays between 9-5. They don’t make it easy to file.

Yes! Mine was reported and not fixed within the time frame set so they paid for it. I don't remember the details, but it worked out for me!

Brookhaven doesn't reimburse. Two people I know tried and the response was too bad so sad. There's no way to really prove it I guess, so they just say you're SOL.
