Swaddling
My 4 month old will not sleep unless he is swaddled. Last night, he started rolling onto his side and breaking free from the swaddle so I took it off of him. After I did that he slept awful. I know once they start rolling over to stop swaddling but is there anything else I can put him in to help him sleep? Or should I just let him be and eventually he'll get used to it?

Re: Swaddling
DD was swaddled until 6 months when she moved to her crib from the rock n play. It was never an issue.
After that we used sleep sacks but she never slept as good as when she was swaddled

Re: Swaddling
DD loved to be swaddled until that age. 4 months is also when the first sleep regression started for her. We switched her to the Merlins Magic Sleep Suits and she slept comfortably until she outgrew it at 7 months.

Re: Swaddling
You can still swaddle around the tummy with the arms out.
Another idea is to swaddle with 1 arm out for a few nights, then both, as a sort of transition.
Or just ride it out a few more nights. The baby will adjust.
The sleepless nights are better than worrying about your baby being swaddled, rolling over, and getting stuck. Way too dangerous.
Hang in there, you'll sleep again!

Re: Swaddling
My son loved being swaddled too. The zipadee zip worked great for him once we moved him to the crib.

Sleep sacks?
These are Sleep Sacks
Both my kids used these. I actually need to buy my daughter a larger size bc she's outgrowing her sleep sacks. They were a lifesaver especially since my son would never keep his blankets on once we transitioned him to a bed. I used to buy the split leg ones so he could still walk around.

Agreed... however mine started sleeping better at 8ish months. We stopped swaddling at 6 and moved to the crib. No one slept for 3 months... no one... even the dog was going nuts with everyone up all the time. Then we were all really sick and DH and I passed out one night without taking their lovey bears from their crib and they slept like a dream. Since then, They sleep 8-7 and in their sleep sacks with their lovey and they are 17 months. They have a nightlight and a noise machine. I did try the zipadee sack for one which was a nice transition because they can move while still having arms and feet in

Thank you everyone- I didn't have this problem with my first DS cause he never liked his arms contained. DS2 needs them to be or else he startles himself awake. I am going to look into the Merlin Magic Sleep Suit and the zipadee zip (I've never heard of either)!

Re: Swaddling
I heard great things with the Merlin. I personally used the Ollie swaddle and it was one of the best things I purchased My daughter has been sleeping 8-10 hours straight from beggining. I purposely did t do tummy time with her that much because I knew once she started rolling, I’d have to give up the Ollie lol. Eventually I felt guilty and just stopped using it cold turkey and she’s been great. U can use the Ollie with arms out if you want. I stopped using it last month (5 months old)

Re: Swaddling
We used the Woombie with our babies, which they LOVED! They make a convertible one, which allows you to unsnap the shoulders once they start rolling so their arms can get out, but they still keep that swaddled feeling. We used them up until about 7 or 8 months.

Re: Swaddling
Maybe you can try a halo sleepsack swaddle (the ones with the Velcro wings). But wrap the wings under your baby's arms. (That would hopefully give the feeling of a swaddle without actually being swaddled).
