Car help!
So my car went in for inspection last weekend and it will need over $3K just to get it to pass. Its 12 years old, has 122K miles....its time to retire her.
So I have three kids, and just found out another on the way. Logically, a minivan is the best option. But I need something with 4 WD because my commute is long, very hilly and downright dangerous in bad weather.
So tell me, what 3 row SUVs are out there that are under 40K and that you absolutely love!

Car help!
i have 3 kids and toyota highlander. I do NOT suggest it for 4 kids. I LOVE it but it's tight. I refused a mini van and sometimes wish we went the route for a few years. I think it's the toyota mini van that offers 4 wd I would look into that. All SUV"S are super tight and small. little trunk space. I live in CT in a very hilly, curvy place and it snows a ton every year. Everyone has the toyota mini van.

Car help!
My friend just got the Dodge Durango. She did a TON of research. She wanted 4WD too but wanted space like a minivan (what she had). She had measurements and everything of all of the 3rd row cars lol.. She had her DH sit in the 3rd row to see how an adult would feel sitting there. Out of all the 3rd row cars, the Durango was the best. It's not as spacious as a minivan but she feels it's the largest/most comfortable out of all the 3rd row cars. I don't know prices sorry.

We just leased a 2018 Durango in July and I love it. Definitely the most sizable 3rd row SUV, without going into the full size range of the Yukons, which are like $60k. Lots of space with the 3rd row up and down. We have a low mileage lease because we have small commutes. I think you can get a 10,000 mile lease for low $400s.

I don't think that's anywhere near under $40K though. The Pathfinder which is smaller than the Armada is in the $40K range. The Armada is a monster. LOL I just bought a Nissan and saw the Armada at the dealer and it stickered close to $50K and even way upward of that depending on the trim level

Re: Car help!
I'm due with my 4th this week and we are moving from our minivan to an SUV and we don't think we can comfortably fit in a mid sized SUV...I do have a friend with 4 who has an explorer, but with two preteens and two in car seats, we think we need more space than that can offer. I haven't found any affordable full sized SUVs though...we are leaning towards an expedition.

I would go with either the pilot or Durango. These are my two choices for my next car. I’ve been in both and like the room, ratings, options. I do personally like the style of the Durango more but I’m Honda loyal so I’ll see when I’m ready what I decide

True -- I thought the cost was about 50.
There is a new Volkswagon truck that people are saying is incredibly roomy. Maybe check that out too!

I have a Durango. It is one of the roomiest cars I have ever been in and personally, I love driving it. Smooth ride, quiet, does not feel as big as it is. I have had grown men, 6 feet tall, 300 pounds in the 3rd row and they have not complained about being squished.

Re: Car help!
Not exactly a post to answer your question...but i would stay away from the Chevy traverse. THe price and space fits your requirements, but i'm not a fan of the car (i have a 2016)

I have an old pilot and if you can get under 40k then that is what I recommend.

Re: Car help!
Are you looking new or would you consider off lease? I looked at so many SUV options. So many more otions off lease ~$30K range.
Non Minivan: Dodge Durango Honda Pilot Ford Explorer Volkswagen Atlas - one of my favorites, but not available off lease.
**These are the largest options, smaller SUVs (but not as comfortable)
Toyota Highlander Infinti QX60 - @~$30K for 2015 Acura MDX - @$30K for 2015 Nissan Pathfinder
Only 4WD minivan I kmow of is the Toyota. My kids loved the minivan we rented. I am not sure I am ready to drive one, but this is by far the easiest of all options.
Captain chairs are FAR easier in all options, although not available (as far as I know) the QX60, MDX or Pathfinder.

Definitely buying.
Went to see the Chevy Traverse last night and I liked it. Still want to explore a little more though.
