KIDS!!!

Anyone else going to snap???

I have 3 boys. They are constantly fighting. It starts out as playing together and then they are killing each other.
1. This is not the time for an ER visit.
2. They are driving me effing nuts. Someone is constantly crying! Literally my 4 year old is hysterical as I'm typing this.

Anyone else in this situation? How are you keeping your kids separate? My two little ones are 3 and 4 so they aren't understanding to stay away from each other. It's just non-stop. Any tips?

Omg same. I only have 2 but they are 4 and 5 and they are either fighting or playing recklessly every. Waking. Minute. I can’t take much more of this, and I’m a teacher who has to teach online.

Re: KIDS!!!

3 boys.

A 9 year old that needs refocusing to get school work done
A 5 year old who lets face it can’t do much independently
And a 3 year old who thinks every day is wrestlemania

Also a teacher who has to work online

Someone out there posted a pretty little coronavirus homeschool schedule. All color coded and nice. My schedule was

Wake up
Ask Kids to shut sponge bob off
Tell kids bfast is ready
Yell at them to shut off sponge bob
Eat
Yell at kids for fighting
Snack
Yell at kids for wrestling
Lunch
Let’s try homework
Yell at kids for not doing homework
Snack
Yell at kids for being mean
Snack
Burn dinner
‘Nother snack

Then i started having to do teletherapy lol

This week I tried divide and conquer. The 2 year old does his work on the chrome book. Aka his little leapfrog leaptop. He slams all the buttons and feels important. My husband sits with our 5 year old and does the coursework. And I have our 9 year old in the office room with me plugged in with his headphones listening to watching lessons while I therapy my work kids. When I have random little breaks I help him to complete work or answer questions he has.

Are you able to separate them for little tasks or coloring activities or puzzles for a while? Tell one to play in a different room for a bit? Have them color the other one a picture and surprise them with it?

Me too!

But, my kid says "I want company." She wants me to sit next to her watching her do her homework! Uh, no!

And, she stays in the same pajamas for 3 days/nights straight! I had to force her to shower last night!

I am one and done and I can't even imagine what it's like with multiple. I am ready to build myself a cabin in the woods. DH and I are both on conference calls, DH is doing his work, I am doing mine, and in the meantime DS is NONSTOP talking. "Mommy, look at this, hey guess what?" etc.

I am working harder at home than I ever did at work. And I work hard at work!

Yes. It's mostly my 3 year old playing rough with my 7 year old. I have to hold my kicking 3 year old so my 7 yr old can get into another room and close the door. The 3 year old will scream and cry a minute or two and then declare, "me play nice" and all goes back to normal.

I am not enjoying this, not even a little. I am not cherishing the chance to slow down and bond with my family. I want to go back to work, and I want my kids to go back to school. We like each other much more that way.

Re: KIDS!!!

I told my kids if they get hurt there is no hospital or doctors to see right now. If they break a bone it's going to set funny and in a few months we will get it rebroken to have it fixed. That stopped a lot of roughhousing.

I’m actually happy my kids have each other. My older DD gets a bit more school work, and my younger is most annoying to me when she’s waiting for her sister to finish Chat Icon

KIDS!!!

I love my son, but we need a break. We’ve spent way too much time together these last 2.5 weeks. I’m a teacher so we have the whole summer off together. I’m fine with that because at least we can do things and go places. I’m praying we both get to go back to school!

See I actually think the opposite. DH keeps telling me this is why people have 2 kids, so they can occupy each other. I guess we were bad pandemic preppers.

I just see them fighting.
But Dd has always been good on her own. She always entertained herself well. She was born to be an only!

Re: KIDS!!!

Same. 4 boys ages 1,3, almost 5, &6. All day long I’m trying to get them to just stop being so physical, fighting, etc bc I don’t want to have to bring them in if someone gets hurt. Someone is constantly whining or crying or hitting each other. The few hours when the two younger ones nap feel like a little break. We do a daily drive in the car late afternoon for sanity. I don’t have any good suggestions but I’m in the same boat!

Re: KIDS!!!

i only have one boy, but he's emotional, and grumpy, and everything drives him crazy. he's fighting with DH all the time. He goes from not letting me out of arm's reach to telling me daddy is his favorite. I spend every waking moment by his side, trying to help him deal with his emotions and it is exhausting!

Yes, mine keep fighting and whining too. The most frustrating part is trying homeschool my 7 year old while me 3 year old is demanding my attention and completely distracting my 7 year old.

Me too. My kids are both boys in the same age range. They keep each other company and help with school work (thank goodness they both take French... I’d NEVER be able to help with that) and that is the best part of this whole nightmare.

Re: KIDS!!!

Getting them to do their school work is a nightmare. Our district has been awesome and provided everyone with laptops. They have schedules and an adequate amount of work. I understand the teachers are doing the best they can, but there is no real plan to teach. A lot of it is work to recap what they've already learned. The teachers that are covering new material, provide instructions for parents that look like they were copied and pasted off of a homeschooling website. I can't sit here all day and read the instructions from the teacher and then get my kids to complete the assignments. I have to work. I don't have time for it. I don't know how to teach. I read it, I understand it, I just don't know how to make a young kid "get it". Then add in all the distractions at home and the kids can't stay focused. One minute they are playing, the next they are fighting Chat Icon Chat Icon I'm frustrated today.
