I have actually seen all of these things in Walmart. Not sure why people poo poo Walmart as they have been stocked and prices are less than anyplace else.
I think because some are just not clean and the crowds
You need to know when to go and people seem to always judge Walmart. I save so much money as I have compared to grocery stores and Target. I have no shame in saying I shop there and save money.
Def no shame in going. I shop there from time to time just Target is right down the road and Walmart is a 20 min drive.

The closest Walmart to me is in Islandia and I just don't feel safe there so I won't go.

I go from time to time but I usually find them very very dirty and the customers are exceptionally difficult. Like families will block entire aisles and look at you like you’re crazy if you say “excuse me” 500 times. It’s maddening.
I’d rather go to Target, spend $10 more and leave the store not in an angry rage.

Re: What "unusual" things have you had a hard time getting?
Last week I could not get a normal size box of confectioner's sugar. Also, my neighbor asked me to pick up Pillsbury banana bread mix and that was wiped out too. Actually i noticed most of the baking stuff was wiped out. I could not get buttermilk either. How weird is that?
Target was still wiped out of sanitary products the other day.
I could not get an avocado the other day either.
I wish I knew someone who worked at a grocery store so they can explain the stocking process to me. i have become very fascinated by it with this whole ordeal.

Dish wash soap. I winded up getting it. My dad wanted the cup of noodle soups. I got them on amazon and I know I paid 4x the amount that you can get them on costco.
Sugar was wiped out! I had to get the last box of sugar cubes and now I feel fancy! I might never go back to granulated LOL
I love sugar cubes, fancy~~~

What do you want to know. Both of my parents have been in the grocery business since the 70s.
All businesses have local warehouses. Those warehouses typically have adequate supplies for all the stores they service. That is obviously not true now. The warehouses provide trucks to each store. They try to divide up what the stores need. A store might get a few pallets of paper towels. Typically this fills the shelves until the next delivery. People now are hoarding those so they are pretty much out of stock shortly after the store opens. Due to the hoarding, the warehouses do not have adequate stock.
I will say I live upstate and am having a much easier time finding food and other goods except hand sanitizer. Shelves are definitely not well stocked but I can find whatever I need.

I wish people would stop with the dann hoarding already

A webcam. Ugh. My laptop is from 2015 and didn't come with one. I have a million zoom meetings for work so I have to log in from my laptop and also from my phone so they can "see me". Just so annoying. The earliest I can get one from Dell is July.

I work in IT and laptops are very hard to come by too..everyone ordered them all up for their employees to work from home. Out salespeople are having a hard time procuring them for our customers But on the upside that's a perfect excuse not to be on video. I disabled my camera so i can't turn it on. If anyone were to question it the perfect excuse is not enough bandwidth at home so the videowon't work. Haven't had to use that one yet...but it's in my back pocket. Nobody needs to see me. Ridiculous

Re: What "unusual" things have you had a hard time getting?
Frozen peas! that has been the one thing I haven't been able to get in 5 weeks.
Frozen foods are hard to come by in general, but early on I was able to get broccolli & lima beans in whoel foods. usually the last thing left ar ehte expensive nramds. My husband still mocks me for getting Justin's fancy-ass peanut butter.
In the beginning, flour, bananas & pasta were scarce, but those have come back. Stop & shop may or may not have meat or eggs, but whole foods does.
We were able to get trortillas in whole foods a few weeks ago, but not this week. I am going to attempt to make my own flour torillas this weekend. . .

Just the first 2 weeks were bad but I haven’t had a problem since. Then again I shop at Walmart lol. NY is on “pause” until 5/15 so it will continue to be worse than usual though.

We are still on pause as well until May 4th last I heard, but it is being introduced verrrrry slowly.
At first we had a problem because of border problems and trucking, but we are now able to get goods in from the countries no problem now. The good thing is all the stuff from Italy and Spain is now usually lower in price.
They worked it out somehow.

Make your own yeast by starting a sourdough starter.

Really depends on which one and when you go. I used to go at 7 am in the morning before kids. It was quiet and I was in and out.
Dh and I will stop at walmart when we are off Long Island and stock up on baby items as the inventory is so much better.

What
I have no problem with Walmart but, our Walmart is dirty on a good day so I avoid it like the plague - it is also in the hotbed of the outbreak so I will not be going there.
I haven't been able to find chocolate chips, jelly and frozen goods are hit or miss.
I've heard Target has a lot of things so I may try there today since I have to go out for something else and we're due to go to the store today or tomorrow.
