NYS Dept of Labor Career Fairs?

Anyone ever been to one? I was laid off on Jan 7 and there is a career fair out in hauppauge at the end of this week - I'm wondering what sort of employers attend? I am looking for a communications position (internal comm / pr / editing / writing) and I just don't know if those kinds of jobs would be the kind I'd find at this career fair -- or is it mostly clerical or finance or IT? I feel like wherever I look, that's all I find.

For anyone job hunting, don't bother with DOL career fairs. I went today and it STUNK. One employer actaully told me that she used to think "communications" was a "bullsh*t" response to what kind of work one wanted to do, because her cousin used to be a jack-of-all-trades and he always did a million things and was always doing something different. Um, hello, I don't give a crap about your cousin. You're looking to hire people, I'm looking for a job, and you just told a prospective employee that you think what she does is "bullsh*t." Thanks.



No wonder no one looking for a professional, corporate job came to the fair. With employers like that, what do you expect to get????
