I think another poster put it best for my situation, somewhat by default, not by choice. Never met the right person when I was younger, met my now DH in my mid 30's. He didn't want children because he suffers from a chronic health condition (not life-threatening but very uncomfortable and difficult for him to live with daily) and he did not want to risk passing it on. By that point I decided being childless with the right person was more important than having children with the wrong person. After we married he did have a change of heart and we rolled the dice for about a year, but by then I was in my mid 40's, it wasn't meant to be, and so here we are.
WOW! you basically just described my situation. I just met DH about 4 yrs ago, before we got married in 10.2008, we tried for over a year and it didn't work. I am now almost 43, he's 46, so we've just accepted it but would've loved to have a had a child.
