Had our CPSE meeting - some questions
So we had our CPSE meeting yestserday, and it went pretty well. However, they didn't approve all of the services we were looking for.
We were approved for a SEIT for one hour 3 times a week, for OT for a half hour 2 times a week, and for parent training for one hour once a week.
They didn't approve us for a behavioral specialist or for summer services. I plan on fighting for the summer services once we begin working with the SEIT and can get their input. I'm a little worried about not fighting harder for the behavioral therapist, though.
Can anyone explain what a behavioral therapist does, and how it is different from the SEIT? The board said the SEIT would be working on the behavioral issues (hand flapping and screeching) as well as socialization, and that the behavioral therapist was not needed.
Is this something we should pursue privately? Or fight further with the district? Or do we just begin the approved services and go with a wait-and-see approach?
Any advice would be appreciated - thanks!

The SEIT will work on behavior. I would wait and see. If the SEIT feels more services are needed you can always call another meeting.
