Does anyone know where I can find an accurate chart of healthy weight ranges for heights?

According to Weight Watchers I should be between 117-141. However, looking online, I've seen as low as 108 for my height (5'4"). Most of the charts online were 110-145.

I'm 118 now and I dont look at all like I'm close to being a pound underweight so I'm wondering how accurate WW's healthy weight ranges are. I'm wondering how they come up with these ranges in the first place. Chat Icon



Colleen....when you posted your before, during and after pics you said that you thought you looked best around 120-125, so why would you want to go under that?

I don't want to go under that. I was just wonering where the range came from. Chat Icon I'm trying to stay around 120ish but I'm very active so sometimes I lose more than I should. I was just wondering where WW came up with the range and if slipping that much below really would make me underweight. More of a curiosity thing. I'm very content at 120 though! Chat Icon

I think it really depends on the person and body type. I know for me when I was at my lowest weight a few years ago of around 117-118 (i am also 5'4"), I had to severely restrict my food intake to stay at this weight, and kept getting comments on how skinny I looked... In fact, I even got called into HR at my old job, and they told me I should get help for an eating disorder, it was very embarrassing!.. For me, I think I look healthy at 130 and I don't have to struggle and restrict to stay there. Of course everyone's body types are different!

I always used this as a guide:

100 + 4-6 pounds for every inch over 5 feet.

I am also 5'4" and weighed 110 in HS (but was very thin), 119 on my wedding day (which was a little on the thin side of ideal for me) and am now ~140 at 22 weeks pregnant. (I was 131 when I got my BFP which is a bit high for my frame).

For *me* my ideal weight is probably a toned 122-125, and I have a smallish non-curvy frame with some boobs.

I find that because body types vary so much there really does need to be a large range for "healthy weight" generally associated with a particular height, but it doesn't mean that anything in that range is healthy for every person who is that height, if that makes sense. 108 is too skinny for me and 140 is too heavy for me. Also, muscle weighs more than fat and at my lightest days I had little to no muscle Chat Icon

ITA with this. I'm 5'6 and was 116 at my smallest since 8th grade. My ideal weight range for WW is 124-155, I'm 148 now and definitely too heavy for my frame. BUT, at 116lbs I was 16% body fat, which I find to be a healthy weight for me (I'm surprised all the body fat charts say that's too little fat). I don't follow any charts because they don't take into account frame size.
