Prednisone

How many mg were you on and what were your side effects.

I have to start it in soon and take until my due date. So I will only be on it for 3 weeks, but the side effects have me freaked out. Especially the mood swings and the (although rare) loss of contact with reality. I am home with my DD all day long and that just has me freaked out.

the highest does I will take will be 80mg.

Holy shitt balls 80mg?! I take 5mg every day for my rheumatoid arthritis and besides swelling and hunger I do fine, but I am on a MUCH lower dose! Why so much? I was told by my maternal fetal docs I couldn't take mor ethen 30mg without being in the hospital.

I was on 60mg a day for about a week. My biggest issue was sweating. I was literally soaking wet for the entire week. It was gross. Rivers flowed down my forehead. My hair always looked like I just got out of the shower. That was really it.

I was on it when I was pregnant... I was hospitalized for Optic Neuritis. I got 80mg for 4 days via IV. Then I tapered off little by little in pill form. The only side effects tha tI had were obv weight gain (which came off once I stopped taking it), shortness or breath and my heart was beating really fast.

Wow 80? I thought being pre go you cant take that high a dose.....i wqs on bed rest towards the end of my pregnancy....my dd came a month early and one day before i was supp to stop the prednisone....i was only on 30 mil .
Call your dr and tell him your symptoms ...good luck to you

My side effects were crying a lot and pretty depressed .....constantly hot ( but it was summer and i was getting huge from being on complete bed rest) so im sure that added to my symptoms also .

I've taken prednisone several times, and never had any side effects, maybe just a bit hungry, but other than that, none. I also took it for 2 weeks while preg, and again, no side effects at all.

I was on high dose when I had scleritis. I had just finished a course of prednisone for an asthma attack and then developed the scleritis. I was on 80mg for a couple days then tapered down over 6 weeks.

My house was really clean and my cupboards really empty. I couldn't sleep and had a ton of energy. And I ate. And ate. And ate. And was sweaty. Didn't have any mood issues.

I'm on it right now for a really bad case of otitis externa(sort of like swimmers ear but brought on by eczema in my ears.) I started at 60 mg a day. I have been hungry and peeing a lot. That seems to be it. I have also been on it once before and never experienced loss of reality.

I was on prednisone while pregnant from ~30 weeks until I was induced at 37 weeks. I had a very very severe case of PUPPPs which eventually stopped responding to the prednisone.

I don't recall having a single side effect, but when DD was born it did cause her to have low blood sugar for the first few hours or so.

For almost two years I did 1 14 day taper per month followed by a 1 week stead course. I was very ill. I always started with 80.

I got terrible mood swings, increased urination, increased hunger and thirst, sweating, and severe joint pain. I developed cushings syndrome because of it.
