Cost/rec for termite treatment?

For the 4th time my house is about to go into contract. There have been 3 engineers here who found zero problems with the house. Now the 4th one says that we have termite damage but no active infestation because it's cold out. Somehow, the three other engineers missed this "damage" in a very open and obvious area. Imagine that? This f-er is lying to justify his paycheck so I'm really annoyed. I'm looking to go as inexpensive as possible. Any recs?

I think the most expensive companies are the big ones, like Terminex.

I recently had a sale (I had the buyer) where the seller used The Bug Stops Here in Massapequa. I am not sure of the cost, but I am sure it was reasonable -- This was an estate sale, and the son who was selling the home really didn't want to spend a dime!

I forget where you are located, but I would check out smaller, mom and pop type pest treatment companies instead of the big names.

Also, the cost varies depending on the type of treatment you do. I don't know if anything has been requested or negotiated in your case, but a spray treatment is the cheapest (probably a few hundred dollars) versus a more complex baiting system that can be a couple of thousand.

Terminx is very expensive we had carpentar ants and called them and they give you the "free" inspection of course they found some damage. It was well over $1000 and all they do is put traps outside with pieces of wood in it and inspect every few months to see if there is any activity Never once treated for them.

Definitely find out the treatment plan before you pay for wood. I'm so irritated I feel we wasted so much money.
