First Ever IUI..Medication questions
Finally all my testing is done. So far i have a luteal phase defect but it most likely because i have hypothyroidism too. Bloodwork came back and my TSH is 1.29 so meds for that is working.
So my journey begins. Got my Clomid medication and today is the first day to take that before my first IUI.
I am so new to all of this and i know that success rates are not large with the first one but i'm gonna be keeping my fingers crossed.
I do have some questions about meds and i thank you ahead of time for answering them:
1. Anyone have any side effects to Clomid?
2. Should i take it morning, noon, or night? With food or without?
3. My insurance doesn't cover fertility meds. The Clomid was cheap but Ovidrel was not. Anyone know where i can get Ovidrel cheaper? CVS wanted to charge me $145

Re: First Ever IUI..Medication questions
Good luck with your cycle hopefully this will be your first and last!! I'm currently on my 3rd clomid/ IUI cycle.
1. The major side effect that I've gotten from clomid is killer hot flashes especially at night they'll wake me up! I tend to be a bit more emotional too and have gotten occasional headaches.
2. It doesn't matter what time of day you take it just stay consistent with that time each day. My instructions said that you don't have to take it with food but I always do anyway.
3. Sorry I can't answer this question, my insurance covered mine so I have no clue abt where you can get the trigger for cheaper. I'm sure some of the lovely ladies on here will be able to give you better direction though! Good luck!!!!

First Ever IUI..Medication questions
Take it at night. I had hot flashes, sex dreams, headaches and moodiness. Like raging ****** moodiness. But it's temporary :) Ovidrel from Kraupners is 79$ I think and they deliver.
Good luck!

Re: First Ever IUI..Medication questions
With the advice of the girls on here I took it at night, at around the same time.
It did give me hot flashes, moodiness, and did wake up at night sweating.
I paid the full price at CVS for the ovidriel.
Good luck.

Re: First Ever IUI..Medication questions
1. Anyone have any side effects to Clomid? It made me feel dizzy and I would have hot flashes. Also dries you up down there.
2. Should i take it morning, noon, or night? With food or without? I preferred yo take it at night before bed. See above answer.
3. My insurance doesn't cover fertility meds. The Clomid was cheap but Ovidrel was not. Anyone know where i can get Ovidrel cheaper? CVS wanted to charge me $145 Yeah I remember ovidrel being expensive. Does your re donate meds? Some practices have patients donate extra, unused meds.

First Ever IUI..Medication questions
I took clomid during the day one cycle and it was terrible! Someone suggested to take it at night after dinner. It was great advice! Slept through most of the worst side effects. Took it 6ish.
As far as the ovidrel, my advice is to call around. You can use ovidrel, pregnyl, or the generic Hcg. Not sure if there are any others, there probably are. Call kaupners, freedom pharmacy, walgreens... When you find the least expensive of all the trigger shots, ask your RE to prescription that one.
Good Luck!!

Re: First Ever IUI..Medication questions
I found HCG to be cheapest at Kraupners. I paid about 100 OOP.
I got my clomid at Target Pharmacy. It was $9. Before I knew about that, I had been paying CVS around $25 for it.
I had no side effects with Clomid. Good luck!
ETA- Kraupners gave me Novarel, but they told me generic HCG was the same price anyway.

Re: First Ever IUI..Medication questions
1. Anyone have any side effects to Clomid? YES! I got terrible migraines the 2nd time I was on Clomid. And for that, I would never take it again. But for others, there are no side effects. And I had no side effects my first month on it, so I wouldn't worry.
2. Should i take it morning, noon, or night? With food or without? Take it right before bed. This way if you do have side effects, you may be able to sleep through most of them.
