Freaking out...with update
Hey guys,
so last month I was held back from starting IVF because I still had a cyst in my ovary. Dr put me on birth control pills and I'm supposed to go back soon as I get my period. Well now, last Tuesday, I went to get my annual PAP...and today, the DR called me! I missed his call and he just left a message for me to call him back. I've been calling him all day leaving messages, and all day they said he's with patients. I called again at 4:15pm only for them to tell me he was done for the day and left. Supposedly, he will be returning calls from home, but Im freaking out and kind of pissed! They only call if something is wrong, and how's he gonna leave me waiting all day!!! Of course my husband is trying to be optimistic, saying its probably nothing, to which I said, Dr's don't call themselves if there is nothing wrong, he's not calling to say hey! Now I'm, freaking out because I'm literally waiting for my period to start, and my brain is running wild thinking of what horrible thing this dr has to tell me
has this happened to anyone...I'm guessing cancer is the worst case scenario...test was inconclusive and I need to go back to do it again is the best case scenario.

I'll gladly take a yeast infection right now...although, I seriously doubt it unless its a sleeper one (le sighhh) I just want to hear back from him today no matter what time. I'm gonna be real pissed if he doesn't call back, and then is unreachable tomorrow. I hate when drs do that. FINGERS CROSSED...I'm now praying for a yeast infection!

Years ago I had an inconclusive pap. Doc told me to come back in 3 months for a repeat. Next one came back clear and so have all the ones since then. Try to be optimistic!! Fingers crossed for you!!

It could be that you tested positive for hpv, which is generally not a big deal. Most people will be positive for that at one time or another. They usually just wait to see if you're negative the next year. Hopefully, whatever it is, it's nothing serious.

Freaking out...with update
Pap came back abnormal he wants me to get another test where they examine and possibly do biopsy in the cervix area. I have to call tomorrow morning to make the appt. now here's my question...I'm supposed to get my cycle this week, and hopefully start ivf...dr said I can go ahead and get my bloodwork and start, but should I? Should I tell ivf drs what gyno said? And maybe wait yet another month (until my NEXT cycle) to start after I do this test and get results etc? I wanna vomit. I feel like this second time around has been nothing but set back after setback, road block after roadblock. My body is going hay wire it feels like and I have no control over it. It feels like my body/hormones are betraying me right now. So any suggestions of what to do? Gyno dr said not to worry it's no big deal, but we all know that goes in one ear out the other. And he is say I could go and see if I can start ivf when my cycle comes...what would you do? I've never been through this before, would love some input. Thanks!

My RE would not let me start a cycle with an abnormal pap so it might not be a choice that you have. They would make me do the colposcopy (where they look at your cervix) first and get a clear result before starting IVF. Good luck.

Yes. When I was gearing up for Ivf (didn't do it bc my 7th iui worked), re said I needed a clean pap to move forward.
I'm sorry you are dealing with this! Everything will work out.

I would totally call. My RE would not let me cycle without a clear PAP within a year. I totally feel your pain it is completely annoying! For me.. .I would keep thinking I should have waited if things did not go "right"

Thanks for the input and the kind words...it's starting to feel like god doesn't want me to have another child. Since last November every unimaginable bad thing has happened, and just when it seems like the worst is over, something else starts up. I feel like I'm letting my family down, my husband. And then of course after having done 3 rounds of ivf meds in the past...there's always that fear of wtf will those meds do to me later on...but you're all right need to be upfront and loop in ivf doc and hear her say no go yet again. It's just sucks cuz practically a whole year is going by and we haven't been able to start and god only knows how long it'll take to actually stick. I feel like I'm running out of time or something....sorry I'm just blabbing my emotions out right now with no rhyme or reason. I'm so stupid to think the second time around would be easier...of course it's gonna be a million times harder...that's just my luck. Thanks ladies, I'm gonna pray really hard that it's nothing horrible...or at least try to.

Re: Freaking out...with update
Your RE will request recent results of the pap and will not let you start if it's abnormal. I had an abnormal breast exam that needed a sono at the radiologist and they refused to start any treatment until I confirmed normal results. It's a liability for them.

Just don't freak out yet. Sometimes it's just a random thing where you get an abnormal pap and then they re-do it and it's fine. It'll work out!

Agree with previous posters -- unfortunately, I don't think the decision is up to you. One of the (many) things necessary for me to start IVF was a negative pap. Definitely call your RE and consult with them. Also, give them your OB/GYN's contact info so they can consult with each other if necessary. Sending you lots of positive vibes! Keep us updated!

I am sorry if this is delaying you more, but hopefully you will find out its nothing the be on your way next month. Better safe then sorry. It would be awful if you got pregnant and then found out it was something serious. Praying everything is ok.

The fact that they're not rushing to get you in is probably a good indication that they don't think it's anything too bad. Many prayers for you!
