Help in finding a nanny

Hey all - I am due 9/5 and will be taking 14 weeks leave. I work from about 8am to 5:30pm (from minute I leave house to when I get home) 5 days a week. I live currently in Patchogue but by the time the baby is born we will be hopefully closer to W. Babylon.

Ideally I want a nanny for the first 2 years. I think I could possibly have a grandparent watch the baby 1-2 days a week but I know for a fact I will need outside help.

I don't know where to begin to look. Are there ways to find mothers for nanny-shares? How do you connect and find these things?? HELP!

Re: Help in finding a nanny

care.com or sitter city.com - - you can put in all your requirements.

ETA - I either phone screened or met with about 20 candidates. Took it as the most serious recruitment of my career. Pretty sure my nanny was on sitter city - - and she's been with me for 3.5 years (and will continue with me for at least another 2-3 years once DS2 is born in July).

We found our nanny on sitter-city but it took about five tries before we landed on our current nanny. With the other nannies, i was always disappointed whenever i checked the cameras. They were either on their phone, not paying attention to my son etc. Its a long process to find the perfect fit so take your time and good luck!

I found a great one on care.com
We had a personal reference that fell through last minute & care.com came through!
