Re: Started running - please tell me this gets easier!
Have you run before? If not, then running for 10 minutes is going to be tough!!! If you are new to running, then I would definitely start off easier. Visit the Couch to 5K thread and take a look at that plan. It gets you going in 9 weeks. To be honest, running 10 minutes is not easy if your muscles aren't used to it.

If you are in the middle of a run and you have the feeling you are going to "die" sorta speak.....it is Ok to slow down the treadmill for 30 seconds or even a minute to catch your breath and let your heart rate come down a bit.
I've been running for years.....and I sometimes need this break too every now and again. I find after my "mini-break"......I go back to full speed and have the energy again!

This is what I do to, its not a set back its just recovery so you can continue. When I first started I walked 5 min ran 2 min repeat, repeat. As I got stronger I walked less and ran more at higher speeds. Interval running really trains you and I find is a better work out if your strapped for time. Keep it up, it def gets easier if your consistant.

Re: Started running - please tell me this gets easier!
It took me a while to build endurance for running. If you keep at it regularly, it will get easier. Eventually you will be able to run for longer periods of time and run faster. i usually run for an hour and have to stop twice, for a minute or so, just to rest and drink water. When I first started running I never thought I would be able to run the way I do now.
