We get the Point.....
Im sorry, but I have to say this. I know understand that you are all trying to educate us with Pet Stores and Puppy Mills, but we got the hint after the first and maye second thread, but enough is enough...we get the point. You ladies dont have to keep drilling this thread.
I enjoy coming to the Pet Thread, but now I dont because of all these posts about pet stores. I LOVE animals and love my pets and yes, I bought Tiger from a Pet store, not knowing the background of Pet stores and mills, which is why I will never buy one from there again. I dont care if you write something negative to me or flame me...., but we get the HINT!!!!!

But that is the point of these recurring threads, to teach newcmers who are thinking of geting a pet, and for those who bought one at a pet store,not to feel guilty ,but to be informed about them so they can not repeat the mistake and also teach others.....
As long as Ron approves, we have no right to tell others what they can and cannot post.

Sorry, as long as people post new threads about buying their dog from a pet store and how that pet store gets its dogs from a breeder - I am going to post about pet stores buying from puppy mills.
Trust me, I will be happier than anyone when all the threads ask for a breeder recommendation or are about how people got their dog from a breeder or shelter.

Ladies, If someone comes on here to GET a pet, yes educate them, give them #'s and websites, WHY because they are asking for advice on where to get their pet. But, if someone comes on here saying "I just got a new Pet" and you can not turn back time obviously, then why educate them after the fact??? Make them feel they did something wrong by giving a loving animal a home, bringing joy to thier life now, etc.. So now every time I look at my Puppy or someone else does, they have to feel guilty for accepting a gift or paying for a certain breed they wanted, etc..
They can read the 100 posts on here about Puppy Mills and the disgusting abuse these animals go through. We all agree, we are all pet lovers or we would not be on here!
No one is saying "You are all wrong"
I am sure that when educating people, your intent is to not turn them away from this board and it seems that is what is happening here.
Should LIF put these topis on the top for everyone to see YES, I think this animal abuse needs to be stopped, but again everyone does not need to mention this in every post.
Sorry to get heated, I am just trying to state that no one is telling anyone they are wrong, no one is saying they dont care about these issues either.

It's not mentioned in every post...it is however mentioned when someone talks about buying or having bought a puppy at a pet store - because that's where the opportunity to educate becomes available.
Mrs D-Girl: Take your case for instance - your puppy is from a pet store. Every other question regarding her we have helped...noone says anything when you are asking about training or vets.
But, I bet you will think twice about getting your next dog from a pet store now that you have been educated.
My first dog was a pet store dog also. Everyone makes the mistake....all we are trying to do is educate for the future.

Glad you do, but not everyone does. Some people don't even realize education is the key, for their second time around or to tell a friend or family member. Some people's skulls are a bit thicker and may need to read a bit more to be convinced that pet stores pets are from puppy mills.

And other than Gerty's thread about puppy mills, and Kara's new thread, (in addition to the old one by MrsDgirl), puppy mill talk threads are just TWO of 25 threads on this page 1.
Please don't make it sound like every thread is dragged into it. 2 of 25, don't see what is so intolerable about that.

Usually things like this kick around for a while after pet store issues come up, and esp around holidays when people buy pets as gifts.
Anyone who finds it annoying can skip over those whopping 2 threads out of TWENTY FIVE on page 1 of the pets board. That is FAR from overwhelming to the pets board.
And a thread titled "We get the point " really doesn't help to let things die down IMO either.

I understand, I really do and the LAST thing I want is to argue about a topic that is very serious such as this. I started that other thread because the first day I came on here, that is what I saw. I was making a point as to an observation that I saw and not to make or start WW3 if you know what I mean.
I guess I am new, not used to what goes on here and like I said before did not mean to cause any further harm if any

I don't think you started WW3 at all...actually, your post was an excellent way to have a discussion about the topic without being "mean" to anyone.
As Goobster said - there are two other posts on this page re: Pet Stores...everything else is advice, etc.
I don't see any posts on those threads re: Pet Stores so I'm not sure how it is being mentioned in every thread.
I'm sorry people are so sensitive about this topic...it's a sad situation and I would think that as reasonable humans we would ALL want to do what we could to stop the abuse.

That's not fair! There are tons of us on here who feel the same way as she does (i got my dog from a breeder and my 2 cats from a shelter) and i am one of those people.

Ummmm...besides education, what approach would you suggest????
And, it seems to me that there are more people on this board than before...so explain how it is turning people away.

relax, fair or not, that was my first impression
I can not understand how any TRUE pet lover can get mad/upset whatever over people trying to bring to light the horrors of puppy mills....this is the real world, this is really what happens to the moms of those "cute" puppy store dogs

OK, now you are just being silly. NO ONE IS BEATING ANYONE OVER THE HEAD. I think some people are just too sensitive for the truth
