24-hour urine collection?
Did anyone do this to check for pre-eclampsia? If so, did anyone test negative for protein at the doctor's office during a regular visit but positive during the 24 hour collection?

Yeah it's in the fridge now. Such a hassle haha every time I pee I have to go get the jug and the little cup they gave me. What did you do overnight? The same thing?

I think that's what they gave me but I mean I have to keep the big jug in the fridge so when I pee at night (which can be 3-4 times at this point) I will have to take the cup thing down to the fridge every time and pour it into the jug. Oh well. It's just one night I guess.

24-hour urine collection?
Yes I know it stinks but now that I think about it they might not have wanted overnight but rather first of the day through before bed?

No definitely overnight for me. Morning to morning. They were very specific. Oh well.
I'm just wondering what the likelihood of having a positive after having a negative in office test is?

Re: 24-hour urine collection?
I had trace protein at the dr's office - that coupled with my elevated bp throughout my second tri is what made the dr order it for me. However for me, the 24 hour urine test came back fine. I never developed pre-e. Just had the elevated BP (and really bad swelling in my feet only) I controlled the BP with meds- it was always borderline- never super high.

Thanks. My bp has been borderline throughout and recently started climbing a bit. I also have had some bad swelling on and off in my feet and ankles, so they ordered it for me.
With your borderline bp were you able to go into labor on your own or did they induce?

Yes went into.labor totally on my own, one day before my due date. Had a very textbook smooth labor and delivery and the minute she was out of me, my BP went back to normal and stayed that way with no meds. I was monitored closely with the BP...especially at the end. But turns out it was just pregnancy induced hypertension and I was able to go into labor on my own with no interventions. Good luck to you!!

If its boarder line bp then u wouldn't be induced but if u have protein, swelling and boarder bp you def will be induced. I was induced for preeclampsia with DS I was 37 weeks my bp was really high it was like 180/100 really bad.

Re: 24-hour urine collection?
I don't want to scare you - I have a very healthy 9 month old - but had pre-e. My proteins went from like 295 to 4755 in less than two weeks - so it's always good to check regularly. I dragged the 24 hour jug on the LIRR and subway and used it at work - such a pain!! My readings at the doctor's office were high too, though.

24-hour urine collection?
i had a high reading in the doctors office and an even more awful reading on the 24 hour that put me directly in the hospital on bedrest til i delivered. if you had a low reading on the dipstick why did you have to do the 24 hour? was your BP already elevated?

Yes. I'm at risk for pre-e because I have a pre-existing hypertension issue and it runs in my family. My blood pressure has risen from borderline to just over into the high side of borderline in the past few weeks and I've started having some swelling. It could be regular hypertension or the doctor said despite the negative dipstick reading, the sample was small and I could still have protein so she wanted me to do the 24 hour to be cautious.

Haven't had experience e with this but wanted to send you and /'s. I think your 34 weeks now? (We're about a week apart) You will be ok and baby will be ok! You have a team of doctors monitoring you and with your history they're probably using better safe than sorry route and extra monitoring for this.
