I think (could be wrong) President Ford had his kids taken the swine flu shot back in the 70's but maybe Obama thinks its just not 'right' for his kids?
...
This does not change my opinion about not taking the shot. I've been clear on that before now, but I must admit this makes me a little angry.
They talk today about how the swine flu is a National crisis.. but somehow the elite such as Obama's family need not worry?
Interesting example he sets.

President Obama's school age daughters have not been vaccinated against the H1N1 flu virus. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs says the vaccine is not available to them based on their risk.
Actually, based on this it seems as if they DID get the shot, it would be wrong b/c he would be using his influence to get it for them.
It says that children with certain conditions are getting it first. They are healthy.

exactly. My niece has the swine flu right now. She is a typically healthy 12 y/o and while she is sick she is recovering well from it.

And if he did get it for them using his "influence" he would be condemned for that as well

I don't get why you would be angry? He has recognized it as a national crisis, however as a parent he still has the right to make decisions about whether or not his children get an immunization.
If he was mandating that people get the shot & his kids didn't get it, then I'd see your point.

If anything this makes me think he is dealing with this more even-handed. If his kids got it, I can't even imagine the outcry that he got preferential treament when there are kids with higher risk factors waiting.

Wow- Fox News is really reaching here. Must be a slow news day since they obviously have nothing else to harp on the President about.
I mean the article is 2 small paragraphs and the only information given is that they haven't been vaccinated and the vaccine is only available for those at high risk. Considering the shortage in availability the vaccine is only offered to the most critical in the high risk groups.
I have a student with a heart condition who has been unable to receive the vaccine due to unavailability-and she's in the highest risk group. She's currently being home schooled until she can get it.
I should think with others in more need that the Obama girls haven't been vaccinated yet.

again i stress i am not changing my position (yet)
But if i were 'thinking' of it, it seems that this pushes that if your child is healthy then there's no reason for you to get the vaccination.

So my cousin 4, my coworkers kids 8, 11, 14 and my brother 38 are just flukes?
Only one got hospitalized (my brother) the rest it was just a flu, a bad one, sure, but still not horrible.
None could take the swine flu shot as it was not available - I'll be honest about that.
So I feel this is big brother using the American people's fear to push this on to us. I can't help but feel angry that the man in charge of selling this snake oil to us isnt giving it to this children.

Personally, the only thing I care about as a parent is having the *choice* on whether or not my son gets it.
The president is not my moral compass or my parenting mentor. He is free to decide as a parent what is right for his children. As others have said, it seems like it's not available for his kids right now anyway. I took my DS in for a regular flu shot and was told it wasn't available about a month ago, so who knows if they could have even received the vaccine a while ago.

It's not worth starting an argument about. You just dont understand what I'm trying to say and I'm not about to go stepping on folks toes trying to make myself clear so I'll just drop it.
If you get it, then fine.
If not, nothing I can ever say will make sense to you about it so we'll just agree to not see this from the same point of view.

or its just a dad, choosing not to vaccinate his children. Like the rest of us, he has that right. He children DO NOT need to be made examples of or be the poster children for the H1N1 vaccine bc of who their father is.
And no one is saying that any age CANT get swine flu, only that certain age groups are more likely to suffer more sever forms of it as are those with other health conditions.

Neither one of those links you posted said anything about Obama refusing to give his daughters the shot.
The titles were misleading propaganda; the information in the first paragraph stated that they have not received the vaccination yet because it is not available to them.
And your comment is just ridiculous.
First of all, Obama is not in charge of selling any kind of vaccinations. And second of all, "snake oil?" come on now.

I am confused. No one is saying that ALL kids can't get H1N1 - they are saying that MOST kids will recover just fine. Kids with preexisting conditions will have a harder time recovering, so THEY are the ones who have to get the shot first. Obama's children are healthy, so even though their dad IS the president, they are not in the first group to be immunized.

Veronica, i think you're missing the point. he is not saying that he doesn't want his kids to get the shot. they simply don't qualify for it. it's being given on a limited basis for those who are in high risk groups. his kids aren't in that group. that's all.
now it would be another thing if he wanted all kids to get it, pushed through more production of the vaccine, and then said his kids weren't getting it - then i'd understand your argument. but that's not the case here.

But I am going to repeat what I said earlier with more detail. I went to my ped's office for a flu shot and was asked if I wanted a swine flu shot, but was told it was not available in mid September. Because my son had a cold, we had to go back a week later, still unavailable. I guess if I really wanted him to have it, I could have kept calling, but given the shortage, I can see why perhaps he changed his mind about it.
Sorry, I just don't see the big conspiracy here.

Oh for the love of god.......he IS planning on vaccinating his children, just NOT YET bc there are higher risks groups being vaccinated first. I dont see why that he said it "before it was released but after the parameters were released" means they arent getting it all?????????? THEY ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR IT YET! This is happening at clinics, health offices and pediatricians all over the country, those with compromised systems are being vaccinated first. He was just saying they will get it...eventually.

This just goes to show that no matter WHAT this man does, there are groups of people who will find fault. I have a nagging suspicion that if the article stated his daughters received the H1N1 vaccine we'd see this post crying: "Talk about special treatment- Obama's kids got the vaccine ahead of others in greater need!"
I thought you just interpreted the articles wrong, but it's obvious you're just looking to start yet another anti-Obama rant.
