Vaccine - update 1/14
I know the vaccine is controversial amongst some. Tomorrow my hospital will be administering the vaccine to employees (they started today). They are administering the Pfizer vaccine where I am. My area is on the list to get first. I will be getting tomorrow I can’t even begin to say how excited I am. It’s like the dark cloud that has been over my head the last 10 months is beginning to lift and I can start to see hope and the other side of this! I will report back how it was, any side effects and will do the same at dose 2 in 4 weeks! I can see the day that covid is almost over
Update:12/16 Sorry I wanted to update this morning but just getting on now! Got the vaccine at 9 this morning. No issues no pain no fever Feel great. SO MANY of my coworkers are getting and there is a huge demand among employees. No issues reported thus far amongst employees. Will continue to update. My second dose is in 4 weeks
Update: 12/21 No side effects will update at the time of the second dose
Update: 12/28 Still doing great! never had any side effects
Update: 1/6 Had the second dose today, no side effects this far just a bit of a sore arm. Will continue to update!
Update: 1/8 Still feel good!
Update: 1/14 Been over a week and I never experienced any side effects! Good luck to all those who get it!

Re: Vaccine
That's awesome. After your 2nd dose, are you able to go without a mask?
I'm really looking forward to when we start getting this to a large percentage of people.

I work in the hospital so I will continue to wear the N95 and surgical with goggles. It’s right now policy we are in full PPE so I will continue. Also will continue to wear a mask in public and around vulnerable family and will do so until covid becomes a thing of the past. Even if I am vaccinated it’s 95% effective based on efficacy rates so I feel it’s my responsibility to continue to protect those around me so masks will continue, same for my kids!

I can deal with some mild side effects. Way better than being intubated. I’ve worked in the hospital through this since the moment it got here. I’ve seen more people die around me then I care to admit. Counseled people in fear of dying and I can’t handle it anymore. I can deal with side effects. I can’t deal with helping a patient face time their family to say goodbye. That needs to be behind me

I read they still want you to wear masks because they aren't sure if you can still spread it after being vaccinated. I will try to find the article i read

On the news earlier they said it didn't matter if you had the vaccine, you should still wear a mask. I didn't hear the reason why though.

I would still want to wear a mask if I was a in the healthcare field. It will hopefully help with the spread of the common cold or even flu.

Are they offering this to everyone who works in the hospital or just doctors or nurses?

I’m sure it’s also to prevent people from going without a mask and just saying “oh I got the vaccine” when really they didn’t.

So people will have to prove they have the vaccine to not wear a mask? How will they determine when the end of masks will be? What is the point of the vaccine?
