That's awesome. After your 2nd dose, are you able to go without a mask?
I'm really looking forward to when we start getting this to a large percentage of people.
On the news earlier they said it didn't matter if you had the vaccine, you should still wear a mask. I didn't hear the reason why though.
here you go
I’m sure it’s also to prevent people from going without a mask and just saying “oh I got the vaccine” when really they didn’t.
So people will have to prove they have the vaccine to not wear a mask? How will they determine when the end of masks will be? What is the point of the vaccine?
Did you read the article? It has most of the answers in there. Exact details won't be available until everyone sees exactly what's happening, vaccination rates, infection rates, etc.

Yep the 2 week curve we needed to get to that has lasted 9 months. They have no clue and will not even know with this vaccine that hasn't been tested long enough to see what side effects it can have on your body, like covid might also have.

i'm a little jealous lol... but really very happy and excited that i "know" someone who is getting it!
i can't wait for my turn. i keep lookin to find info on essential workers and what the state will consider essential for the purpose of getting the vaccine. i will be like a black friday shopper. i'll show up the night before and sleep outside the dr's office.

Re: Vaccine
Regarding the mask wearing and still protecting others (didn’t want to quote everyone)
IMO I think once the vaccine is widely available to the public there should be no more need for masks or worrying about protecting others. If people want to be protected they should get the vaccine if they don’t want to get it it’s on them and no one else is responsible on making sure they are safe.
I am on the fence on getting it or giving it to my kids but I certainly don’t expect others to have to wear masks to protect me because I am choosing not to get vaccinated.

I thnk the article said we need to get like 70% of the population vaccinated to achieve herd immunity and at that point no masks will be required But God knows if and when that will happen. I agree with you though

So you would continue wearing a mask if you don't get vaccinated while others who have been vaccinated won't wear one?
Just asking as I am confused by what people think will happen after the vaccines are out and how long they will determine we are ok to not wear them.

That could be years as everyone I know will not take it, at least now, even nurses.

Vaccine
I’m glad you got it and hope you do well with it. Thank you for doing what you do!
I’m warming up to the idea of getting one. I also decided I’m keeping the mask thing for winters and in crowds, the way they do in Japan.

Re: Vaccine
Crowds are the worst, and even precovid, so many people go out sick. Masks make sense.

Vaccine - update
So happy for you!! I am a teacher and heard we are second tier, so I am hoping to get it in February or March. You are a TRUE hero and this vaccine is a miracle. Everyone I know will be taking it. Hopeful enough take it to make a big difference in the numbers by April or so.

I know the vaccine is controversial amongst some. Tomorrow my hospital will be administering the vaccine to employees (they started today). They are administering the Pfizer vaccine where I am. My area is on the list to get first. I will be getting tomorrow I can’t even begin to say how excited I am. It’s like the dark cloud that has been over my head the last 10 months is beginning to lift and I can start to see hope and the other side of this! I will report back how it was, any side effects and will do the same at dose 2 in 4 weeks! I can see the day that covid is almost over
Update:12/16 Sorry I wanted to update this morning but just getting on now! Got the vaccine at 9 this morning. No issues no pain no fever Feel great. SO MANY of my coworkers are getting and there is a huge demand among employees. No issues reported thus far amongst employees. Will continue to update. My second dose is in 4 weeks
Just the doctors and nurses get it in the hospitals now or everyone that works there? I have friends who are not a nurse or doctor and haven't heard they have been offered it yet.

It’s being offered to hospital employees based on potential risk - the higher the potential risk, based on job, the sooner it will be offered

Not sure, maybe depends on their hospital? In mine we are assigned by units and departments so someone in my department that is a nurse receptionist got it because of the floor she’s assigned to.

Re: Vaccine - update
If you've already had Covid you still get it right? My father in law is in a nursing home and he's had it (twice actually but not sure how accurate that second positive was). I hear nursing home residents are first along with staff. Just wondering how they handle those who have Covid antibodies already
