A Diner? At three weeks?
So DH and I ventured out for dinner tonight with Lil Miss Abby and of course people were looking. One lady asks how old she was and when I said "3 weeks" she said:
"You took her to a diner at 3 weeks? What about all the diseases? When I had kids, we didn't take them out til they were 3 years old!!!"
I'm thinking "Gee lady, the infant mortality rate was WAY high back then, Polio was an issue and Germany was a super power.
Then I asked the waitress to bring me a burger topped with tuberculosis and small pox with a side of rubella WELL DONE!!!!!
Someone call the authorities. I am unfit to raise a child.

I had both my kids out and about with in a week of being home. It was the better option to a mommy with cabin fever!

I waited awhile before I took him into establishments, but on our walks I always use to lie about his age!
Older gals can be so nasty!

I HATE PEOPLE! Yeah you are horrible parents!!
So that women's poor kids never saw the light of day until age 3???
My mom used to get harrassed in church so you may want to stay out of there Leslie These old nasty women used to tell her to "keep her babies at home" BUT she used to fire right back at them

Re: A Diner? At three weeks?
At the peds recommendation and because I was healing from delivery we stayed indoors for the first 2 weeks except for the occasional walk around the block. After that pretty much nothing except holding her face up to someone with a hacking cough was off limits.

I wish people would just shut it! Why are new moms expected to be house bound with a newborn?

We had to take turns. She had been a lil fussy so I held her and ate with one hand til he finished. Then we switched. Good thing I had a salad so I didnt have to worry about my food getting cold.

Re: A Diner? At three weeks?
Welcome to the joys of judgmental motherhood!
P.S. I took Alex out at that age too. In fact, I have a good friend who, on her way home from the hospital, stopped at a diner with her newborn because they were ravenous! And the kid is just fine now

Re: A Diner? At three weeks?
Thats just ridiculous. People stink adn need to mind their own business. You are the mommy and are doing what you feel is right.
I took my DD to the mall at 3 weeks. There was no way that i could have stayed couped up in the house.

Re: A Diner? At three weeks?
They would have called CPS on me then. We went to a restaraunt when he was under 2 weeks.
I would have said, "Then get away with whatever nasty diseases you think you may have!"
Trust me, I say these things!!!!

Re: A Diner? At three weeks?
We may very well have been the youngest family in there as it was on the tail end of the timing of an early bird special and the snowbirds haven't migrated to Florida for the winter yet. Good grief, all of the yenta's were all up in my biznis!!! One actually said "Did you just come from the hospital?" I wanted to say "Yeah, do you mind, checking my scar and taking out my foley? I'd appreciate that!!!"

Re: A Diner? At three weeks?
Every parents do what they feel comfortable with.
I don't think addressing you in the diner was appropriate. I think you already had made an informed decision. It's nobody's business but yours.
We did not take DS out in indoor public places until he was 8 weeks because of the risks. We DID go out every day with him. Just not in malls and restaurants.
