Re: A Diner? At three weeks?
Where do people get the audacity to say things like that? That typy of nosiness calls for a classic "Mind your own business lady".
ETA: I took my son to the mall at two weeks and he hasn't gotten sick once yet.

Re: A Diner? At three weeks?
DS was born February 20th. I wanted to take DS for a walk when he was about 2 weeks old and FIL freaked!!! It was March and he said March is the month of death for newborns and the elderly. Um yeah, ok. It was about 75 degrees out and beautiful. We went for our walk.

My two year anniversary was 6 days after Brandon was born. We celebrated by having steaks at Outback. We brought him with us and he slept the entire time.

So DH and I ventured out for dinner tonight with Lil Miss Abby and of course people were looking. One lady asks how old she was and when I said "3 weeks" she said:
"You took her to a diner at 3 weeks? What about all the diseases? When I had kids, we didn't take them out til they were 3 years old!!!"
I'm thinking "Gee lady, the infant mortality rate was WAY high back then, Polio was an issue and Germany was a super power.
Then I asked the waitress to bring me a burger topped with tuberculosis and small pox with a side of rubella WELL DONE!!!!!
Someone call the authorities. I am unfit to raise a child. I heart you
And people think the unwarranted and unsolicited comments end when you give birth.....
BTW I had G at a restaurant 10 days after he came home. To this day he is AWESOME in restaurants.

We may very well have been the youngest family in there as it was on the tail end of the timing of an early bird special and the snowbirds haven't migrated to Florida for the winter yet. Good grief, all of the yenta's were all up in my biznis!!! One actually said "Did you just come from the hospital?" I wanted to say "Yeah, do you mind, checking my scar and taking out my foley? I'd appreciate that!!!"
I love your responses You're awesome!!!! People just need to mind their business.

Re: A Diner? At three weeks?
If only I had the ballz to say what I felt. Perhaps perpetuating the negative energy would not have been good for Abby. I always try to stay calm when I am holding her.

Re: A Diner? At three weeks?
Well Jordana went to a pizza place at 2 weeks old, and the Sushi Samba a 2 1/2. My child has never had more than a cold in her 2 1/2 years.
To this day, we know we can take her to any restaurant, awake or asleep, and usually she is fine (unless its past her bedtime).
to you!!

Re: A Diner? At three weeks?
DD was 3 weeks old on Christmas Day 2007. We did NOT stay home. CPS hasn't shown up, so I wouldn't worry too much.
And don't people just suck???

Re: A Diner? At three weeks?
We had Ben with us at the supermarket when he was 2 wks old. I don't remember when we took him to a restaurant but I'm thinking it was probably around 4 wks. We never went anywhere at peak times but thats' because DH and I hate crowds. As soon as I could drive, I took him to the mall in the early AM and out for walks. We didn't have him around large groups of people until he was 12 wks old but that was just our decision. I think to each his/her own. Do what you want, smile at the silly comments and just be happy.

Re: A Diner? At three weeks?
People are the WORST!
I had DD outside at 3 weeks and in restaurants by 4 weeks, because I would have been locked in a loony bin if I stayed inside one more day.
AND it just so happens that DD's mood was better on days that she got out of the house. Was it just a coincidence? Maybe, but that 'coincidence' happens pretty consistently in my house.
