A little concerned...leg cramp related

Yesterday morning I woke up screeming from a bad cramp in my calf. I have never had a charlie horse, but I am not sure if this would qualify. It did not hurt to extend my leg at all. It actually felt like the muscles were stretched too much, like it tore or snapped. DH felt my leg and felt that the muscle was like a ball in my calf. It still hurts, expecially when the muscle is stretched (like when I go to sit), though not as bad. I can walk, and put some pressure on it. No swelling or bruising. Maybe I pulled something in my sleep...I just want to make sure we are not talking DVT's. Anyone have a similar thing or is just the common leg cramp everyone gets in pregnancy?

Yes! Me! I just got over mine the other day!

I did it in my sleep! I went to the doctor and the doctor said that it is a sign of dehydration. I drink water but not enough. He said I must have stretched in my sleep and did it. I woke up from the pain and the soreness/tenderness lasted a week.

Once it went away though it was gone. I try very hard not to stretch my leg too far in bed because it'll happen again.

Also....our muscles are weakened because of pregnancy. While we might be thinking we're consuming enough water....baby is taking some of it so we should drink more.

OMG! this happened to me on Monday or Tues. during my sleep. My right calf has been killing me ever since. It only felt worse each day! Especially since I wore high heal boots one day. I think it is finally starting to feel better now, 6 days later! I guess I need to drink more water!

Re: A little concerned...leg cramp related

I had some horrible horrible leg cramps at one point during my pregnancy. It was not a DVT. However, I need to watch out for DVTs b/c of blood clotting issues as well. I had the OB look at it. Basically, if it is red, hot, or swollen, then it is a good idea to have someone look at it b/c it could be a DVT. In fact, if I am ever unsure, I always call the doc. But leg cramps, non-DVT related, are common in pregnancy.
