? about starting meats, eggs, and cheese??

DD had her 7 month appt today and the dr. said it was ok to start meats, eggs and whole milk yogurt.
She said the easiest way for eggs is to hard boil and then only give DD the yolk? Is that normal that DC only get yolks? I would think she would get only the whites?

Also, how did you first present the meats and the eggs? In what form and how did you cook them?

And what about cheese? The Dr. said ricotta, but then also said dairy. Do you think that means any cheeses or just ricotta? What did you start with?

I got different advice from our doc. I had DS's 8 month appt. earlier this week. Right now, he is still eating stage 2 baby foods. I have only given him meat from the baby food jars.

I was told that he could start having egg yolks at 9 months, and whites at 10 months. I think she also told me yogurt and shredded cheese at 9 months. Knowing how my DS eats, I would still be concerned about him choking on egg yolks right now (and I do plan on hard boiling them when I give them to him - not sure how else I would do it. Chat Icon )

I think it's because there is a better chance of being allergic to the whites in eggs. But maybe I just made that up in my head.

DS is 11 months and only had baby food up until about a month ago. (He was EBF for the first 6 months and I didn't really begin to wean until nearly 10 months.) Then we began to experiment with tiny little bites from our food. We are figuring it out as we go. I want to start eggs soon, but I'm in no rush.

Egg whites cause more allergies then yolks, so you start with the yolks. I scrambled the yolks and added a little shredded cheese and DS loved it. Today we went for our 9 month appt and we were told we can do the whole egg now and to hard boil them. So i will try that next.

I make 95% of my own food. Plus I don't like the idea of meat in a jar, so the only meat i give is what i make. I just put it in the food processor or mash it with a fork. DS has had chicken, ground meat, and tilapia so far.
