Yes, she's aquitted, but found guilty of slander which was 3 years in jail, but she's been in jail for 4, so she's being released immediately.

SO happy she is free!!!! I can't even imagine what must be going through her head right now!! Poor girl has suffered through so much over a crime she did not even commit!!!!

Slander for what?
She will be released tonight. She needs to get her things and sign some paperwork.
They mentioned her passport expired while she was in jail. So I'm not sure how they will handle that.

Basically slander against someone is damaging a person's reputation. APparently she is charged with slandering the Italian police (I think).

I just looked it up and it states slander is
Slander is a spoken defamation. Defamation or "defamation of character" is spoken or written words that falsely and negatively reflect on a living person's reputation

I heard this morning, she needs to go to the Embassy to get her passport updated. Don't know if it is true or not. Fox news just reported that there is a rumor that a private jet is waiting for her.

maybe because she blamed the murder on someone else? i don't know how Italian law works

I also didn't realize that her boyfriend was up for an acquittal. Happy for him as well.

Glad to see that the appeal process seems to have worked as the evidence was jsut not there...that said, I am not entirely convinced this girl had nothing to absolutely nothing do wtih this or did not know more than she lets on, although I don't believe she killed Meredith at all and therefore didn't belong in prison for it....
