I am seriously tempted to quote everyone's response and thank everyone individually.. I can't thank you ladies enough for the continued support over the years, and especially now. I remember saying this once before on here.. but despite all this stuff going on, one of the reasons I feel so lucky is because I have the support of all of you. I don't know where I'd be on this road without it! 
As a quick update for anyone who sees this.. My DH an I received the application and forms we need to fill out. We actually need to write an essay about ourselves, so it sort of feels like homework!  The woman from the agency says once it's filled out it could take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to get matched  and then of course both parties have to approve.. etc..
Wow!!! I wanted to ask, but didn't want you to think I way prying I'm so excited for you, hopefully you will be one of those couples matched up quickly!!! So it could be a matter of months possibly? I can't wait to hear all about it 
If you don't mind me asking, are the laws different in NY? I mean, to be a surrogate for someone in NY, do you have to live in another state?

Prying? I post my life details on a public forum... everything from cervical mucous to asking about nail salon recs. What would be prying at this point?  
The process apparently moves very quickly which I'm really happy about! Apparently there are a lot of steps, but it moves fast. I spoke to someone who went through surrogacy and it was 14 months between the time she was matched with her surrogate and when she had her baby, though of course it's different for everyone.
Surrogacy actually is not legal in NY, unless someone like a family member or friend volunteers to do it. The agency we are working with is located in Connecticut, but they work with surrogates who are located all over the country. We would like to get matched with someone in a nearby state and a drivable distance. Hopefully we'll be matched quickly!!
(this is all stuff that I should probably be putting in my surrogacy journal.. which I guess I should start already)

I have been following your story for a long time now PennyCat, your commitment, faith, and courage are truly inspirational. I wish you the best of luck with a surrogscy.

Thanks ladies
I just have to say... my DH and I were just filling out the application and profile. When it asked what kind of support system we have (support groups or online, etc) , I mentioned I am part of a great supportive online community. 
So, now I can officially say that I was matched with my surrogate through the help of all of you!!

Wow, how fantastic! You and DH are so incredibly strong and determined --I'm so glad that you are still on "the road". (How awful that non-family/friend surrogacy isn't allowed in NY tho!   )

You are truly an inspiration. And not just for TTC, you are an inspiration just for anyone trying to cope.
I'm not overly religious and I don't know if you are/aren't, but I feel like God or the Universe has a bigger plan for you and I can't wait for you the receive the blessings that you have coming to you.

Wow
I wish you guys the best of luck - i think its fantastic that you're doing this and that you have such a supportive DH to be by your side through all of this. This long and arduous journey will ultimately give you what you both desire so much, so it doesn't really matter how you get there, only that you do.

I have taken a bit of a break from LIF but I always come on here and read updates.
I am so happy that you are able to pursue this option. I am sure that it is not something you ever thought of, but in the end, you will get your baby and you are someone who truly deserves that moment....... I can't wait to hear all about it
