Another how much do you spend on groceries question

We've had these before but I have more specific questions.
If you are family of 2 how much do you spend on groceries per week including paper products and cleaning supplies? Don't include what you spend on take out,, dinners out, going out to lunch etc. Just groceries. Also, include if you buy lots of meat, seafood and organic produce as this obviously affects the total bill.
Tia.

Another how much do you spend on groceries question

For groceries, paper products and pet supplies, usually right around $100. And I don't buy paper/pet good every single week either, so the weeks I don't I tend to stock up more on food. I also try to buy those items at Target since I get 5% back. I shop the sales and do the best at Shoprite. I also don't go crazy with stocking meats/perishables, and tend to buy only what I need for that week since in the past I've let a lot go to waste.

ETA: I don't buy organic.

Re: Another how much do you spend on groceries question

We spend about $80-$100 per week. We buy a normal amount of meat/seafood; we do not buy organic anything unless it is the cheapest of the lot (which I've found sometimes with a couple of products).

I'm not very brand loyal...really just for ketchup and maybe a couple of other things I can't of right now. I just buy what's least expensive.

$100 a week PLUS paper products and cleaning supplies. I don't know the exact amount bc we don't buy paper products and cleaning supplies every week, we go to BJ's once or twice a month and stock up on them. We do all our food shopping at Trader Joe's(we live down the block from one) and we buy mostly all organic.

That includes meat and seafood too

Re: Another how much do you spend on groceries question

On average about $75.00 for DH & I.

I need to become more frugal but I have been shopping at TJ's lately and those $2-$3 items add up pretty quickly.

When I do the regular grocery store, it's more like $50.00.

I try to buy my paper products when needed at the Dollar Tree to save money and I use coupons on dog food.

My cat food is expensive though because it's prescription, but I get a big bag of that about once every 2 months.

I wish I knew! I spend 300-400 at the grocery store in a month. But I buy some groceries and most paper goods at Target along with a billion other things so it's hard to track. Target can be $200-500 a month but that includes diapers and other baby stuff, gifts, clothes, etc. It adds up but we eat all or bring all of our meals for the week. We very rarely eat out or take in. We eat meat most nights for dinner but rarely have seafood bc of the cost. I really try to be frugal, stick to my list, buy on sale and with coupons, and only buy what we need. I pretty much only buy a few organic things for DD.

Another how much do you spend on groceries question

About $100-$150/month. Depends on how good the sales are or how good my coupons are.

Back when sales were better, I was spending maybe $20/week?

We do not buy organic and we do not buy beer.

Re: Another how much do you spend on groceries question

It varies a lot for us. Sometimes I only spend $50 and some weeks I can spend $200 just depending on what I need. We buy a lot of seafood and DH eats chicken only. I also try to buy organic when I can

ETA I would say an average for the month would be around $300

Re: Another how much do you spend on groceries question

About $100 a week for food, not including paper products, supplies and cat food.
I buy some organic, meat when it is on sale, lots of fresh produce. We brown bag our breakfast and lunches.

My freezer and pantry are fully stocked, so I probably could go down to $50/week just for produce, milk and bread.

Paper and cleaning supplies I buy in bulk at BJ's with coupons. Rarely will I buy them at the supermarket unless the price is really good. I try not to go to Target - it is out of my way.

Re: Another how much do you spend on groceries question

We are a two-person family.

In the range of $40 - 60 a week for straight-up food. No meat, chicken, fish in our house. Not really any processed food, save for Cheez-Its or microwave popcorn. We drink mostly water, tea or coffee at home, so we don't buy much soda. Juice on occasion. Much of what we purchase is organic but I'm not a fanatic about it.

I buy our toilet paper and paper towels from BJs as needed. We go there once a month for cat food (we have three cats, the sole reason for our need of a BJs membership). If we need TP or PT, I buy it then. We buy a large package of each every three months or so? Always with coupons.

Cleaning products...I make some on my own. Keeps it green and clean. Anything I do buy is slightly more expensive than the typical brands, because we don't use products tested on animals in our house. Dishwasher tablets, laundry detergent, fabric softener...these are all once-every-couple-of-months purchases. I want to say about $25 every two months on what I purchase. What I make is mad cheap, since it's using vinegar and water and baking soda. Pennies.

Beer, wine and liquor per week depend on if we want any...we'll spend somewhere between $0 and $25 on that.

The above figures include the fact that we take breakfast and lunch from home pretty much every day, and I cook dinner (at least, but often more than) 5 nights a week.

Re: Another how much do you spend on groceries question

When it was just the two of us, we would spend about 40-50 dollars a week on groceries. We don't buy organic.

We buy most of our meat elsewhere (online, BJs) and we buy our paper supplies at BJs.

Another how much do you spend on groceries question

Depends on what is on the menu and how much I am out of in the house. I guess it would be about $60 a week though I ususally go shopping every 2 weeks.

I try to buy as much as possible from BJ's. Our paper products we buy only from BJ's. Our TP can last 4-6 months our paper towels only a month or 2. But when I go to BJ I can easily drop $150 -$250.

Re: Another how much do you spend on groceries question

Assuming this also doesn't include wine, we spend betwee probably $55 and $125. It depends if we need paper products that week, tooth brushes, tampons, soap, etc. And also depends what I cook. When I buy steaks and good meats, it is more. Im getting better about thinking about what I ahve on hand and finding recipes that call for those things. Uses stuff up and cuts costs.

For those spending 50-75 a week for 2 people with brown bagging it, I'm curious as to what a typical week menu looks like? I can't seem to get under 90 let week for 2

Re: Another how much do you spend on groceries question

This thread makes me feel better. I average $110 for DH and I including cat food ( 1 cat), paper products , cleaning supplies. No meat, but I buy fish/seafood for DH. I also do around 95% organic. I don't think I can cut costs much more.
