check with your hospital and doctor if you can bring it in and actually be available to use it.
I was induced and had wires running all over the place, even before the epi. They wouldn't even let me sit up on the bed for too long, because it would mess with all the equipment.
After the epi, you wont even be able to move your legs to stand or sit on anything.
But, I did use it all the time before labor, it relieved pressure, helped my posture. I also attribute it, to helping me keep the baby in ideal birthing position.

Re: any mammas use a birthing ball during labor?
My sister brought in a birthing ball and wound up with a c-section.
While we were waiting for her to get done, a nurse walked by and told us that birthing balls are a jinx, because anyone who brings one in ends up with a C
If only she had known that before

What she said
I was all set to use it- but never had the chance because I had visitors in the delivery room and was leaking everywhere after they broke my water. I would've loved to have had the chance to use it though

Re: any mammas use a birthing ball during labor?
I brought a birthing ball to the hospital with me and it helped me get through the early stages of labor until I hit 4 cms and could get the epi. The hospital I delivered at doesn't provide them for sanitary reasons and the lamaze coach suggested that we bring our own. It was a lifesaver and helped me a lot.
We brought it deflated and blew it up in the room with the little pump when I needed it. After DS was born we deflated it and threw it out.

i found one online that comes with a DVD on exercises u can do before u have the baby. did u have this one? if so what was the name of the DVD? My goal is to drug free and i was hoping the ball will help me with that.

I used one at home while in labor, but not once I was at the hospital (though we did bring it).

Re: any mammas use a birthing ball during labor?
Me and I HIGHLY suggest it! I'm n MI and our hospital provdes a double birthing ball that really looks lke a peanut in a shell. I was on it for HOURS and it helped me a lot with my ack labor because I could sway, roll, and move while Joe rubbed my back and I applied heat. I went 13hrs on it, pretty much, with neubain. After that they REALLY started jacking up the Pitocn so I got an epi and dilated from a 4 to a 10 in 1.5-3hrs. It's a blur since I was moving around a lot and started pushing early. I will 100% use it again when we have another and I suggest it to everybody. ALso on a side note....do whatever your nurses tell you. You may not WANT to, ut they are very good at what they do and are suggesting it for a reason. DO IT! I can not tell you how the thought of doing hands and knees was appauling but once she hepled me roll my fat arse over t was heaven.
