I personally think if it works for you - and he's not waking up screaming every time for you to come and get him then stick with it!

ITA with this. I'm a big fan of the saying: "If it's not broken, why fix it?"

We used to rock DD to sleep, but it eventually became "broken" (Chat Icon) and we had to do something about it (she woke up ALL night long). We ended having to do CIO with her and it worked beautifully.

I rock my DD to sleep (5 months) and to be honest, it's my favorite time of the day. I too hope I am not spoiling her by doing this and creating a monster...but it's such a bonding moment.

DS is 18 months. We cuddle a bit while we sing and he has a bottle of milk. Once he pushes it away, that means he is done. I kiss him and put him in his crib, still awake. I wouldn't consider it rocking but occasionally the glider slides a little Chat Icon

DD does NOT go down if she is awake even the slightest bit. Her ped told me to stop rocking her at her 2 month checkup. I ignored the ped. The ped repeated that advice at her 3 month checkup. This time I listened - a little - and only rock DD when she is crying and fighting going to sleep.

I'm in the same boat...once in a while he'll put himself to sleep for a nap in his crib by 98.9% of the time I'm rocking...

He always has his bottle in his bouncy seat - he almost always needs that bottle to get him down, but I haven't rocked him since he was a newborn...
